Free Music Review: P. Roach's Best and Most Mature Album to Date.
Hit: 5 Stars

"Getting Away With Murder" is the follow-up to 2002's somewhat (commercially) disappointing album "Lovehatetragedy." It comes at an important time in Papa Roach's career. This is the album that could make or break them. Not only did they get shoved off of their former label, Dreamworks, but the genre they so nicely fit into is seemingly in it's final stages. With recent albums by bands in the same vein such as Korn, Limp Bizkit, and P.O.D. not selling like they used to, all eyes are on Papa Roach. No fear, though, as Papa Roach fail to disappoint and FINALLY find their sound on their brilliant third studio album, "Getting Away With Murder." This may not be a commercial re-birth or a full-on comeback, but what the band has here is more than enough to satisfy their loyal listeners and anyone else who lends their ear. Full of the same infectious hooks and larger than life riffs, courtesy of guitarist Jerry Horton (one of the best guitarists in the nu-metal genre), Papa Roach's music is just as catchy and powerful as ever. However, this time around, frontman Jacoby Shaddix has some better topics to sing about, and he conveys his emotion much more maturely and stronger than ever. Technically, this is a concept album about Shaddix's alcohol problems and the toll being on the road for extended periods of time has taken. "Be Free" is a shining example of this; an anthem about defeating alcoholism with a catchy beat and clever lyrics (could be a hit?), while the standout "Scars" (my personal favorite) is a somewhat softer and more emotionally charged track about putting the past behind and finding yourself. "Take Me" is also another highlight, one of those gigantic songs I look forward to hearing in Papa Roach's new live show. The album as a whole is perfect, which is quite an accomplishment for Papa Roach. Gone are the frustrated and immature lyrics ("Infest") and the muddy production ("Lovehatetragedy"). Together with producer Howard Benson (Hoobastank, Cold), Papa Roach have captured the true essence of their live show and have seemingly found and settled on a sound that definitely works in their favor. Don't miss this album. If you are a fan of Papa Roach (or even if you were sitting on the fence before), or have any appreciation for nu-metal, "Getting Away With Murder" is for you.

Free Music Review: This album rocks!!! (I was formerly paparoachfan04) !!!
Hit: 5 Stars

Well, for people who have read my other 9 reviews, I have already reviewed Papa Roaches 1st album Infest which I loved, however, I'm no longer paparoachfan04 as I have forgotten my password but I am the same person lol. Anyway, on to the album. What can I say? This album is amazing, and I think it's a step in the right direction for Papa Roach. They certainly haven't let die hard papa roach fans down, sure, some fans may disagree with me, Jacoby has changed his singing style a little, as his voice has changed, it's kinda deeper, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing, infact I think his voice sounds amazing on the album and his voice fits well with the style of songs that are on there. For example, Take me. There is a fantastic intro to this song, where you can hear the clear changes that have been made in Cobys voice.

The opening track, Blood (empty promises) is a great song that really starts the album off well, and as can be seen Coby can still shout!! :-). I think on this album also, Cobys songs are more about different things, however, they're still very good, the lyrics are still quite clever and the guitars and drums remain great as always.

In my opinion, Papa Roach have improved a great deal since Infest in 2000, but because they're my favourite band anyway, I don't really see how they can improve much more now, they're simply amazing. I think Getting Away with Murder is just as good as Infest and Lovehatetragedy but in a different way.
Some fans were disappointed with Lovehatetragedy, but again, I think it was just as good as Infest, but in a different way, it didn't have the same approach, i.e. it wasn't as rap-metal, but again, Cobys sound/style changed, which for that album I think went great.

To sum up Papa Roach are an amazing band, they always have been and they always will be. If you want a new album to buy, make sure it's this one, as it is one of my favourites and if you like Papa Roach as I do, you should love the album too!

Free Music Review: Arguably Papa Roach's best
Hit: 5 Stars

Papa Roach will go down in radio history for their hit single, Last Resort, from their debut, Infest, which sent every teen angster on the planet running to buy their record. This album lacks that kind of mainstream monstrosity, but I say it's all for the better.

P. Roach have tinkered, toiled, and worked on their sound ever since they released Infest and have thus pushed their sound forward with each progressive release. That's one of the things that makes Papa Roach great...none of their albums sound the same, which keeps them fresh. On this most recent release, they concentrate on solid, straightforward Hard Rock with an edge. The good thing is, they never loose the original spirit of their music, but the undertones tend to be a little more positive with this album.

Gone are the Rap/Rock rantings of Infest and the Nu-Metal anthems of Lovehatetragedy. In comes the sound that will settle the Roach into their own niche in the modern rock scene. There's no way to describe their sound, there is so much originality to it, but at the core these are just great Hard Rock songs, with a slight Punk influence.

Highlights include the fast-paced opener Blood, the rebellious concert mosher Not Listening, the emotional-punch that is Take Me, the bizarre Getting Away With Murder, and the ballad Scars. Weak points include Stop Looking Start Seeing and Blanket of Fear.

The growth and maturity is extremely evident with this album, the most obvious being Jaccoby's intense vocals and incredible melodies. The structuring and song-writing has grown a lot better, with more fluency to the songs, which adds punch to the album as a whole.

Overall, a great release from a great band that will be around awhile, with their ability to morph and shape their trademark sound on each album which will help them stay fresh for years to come. And as a side note, the experience of seeing this band live proved to me what they were all about, they put on a great show.

Free Music Review: I wasn't even a papa roach fan before this.
Hit: 5 Stars

I have always liked papa roach, i bought their first cd when it first came out and I was a bit let down because Last Resort was such a good song, but the rest of the cd just wasnt as good. I got bored of the cd right away and sick of rap rock so I sold it a long time ago. I still didn't loose faith in the band and always was interested when hearing about them. When i heard that lovehatetragedy was going to be completely different and no rap/rock i got very excited. my friend bought the cd I was soo dissapointed, yes it was rock but there was just no edge. One day i heard Getting Away with murder on the radio and it was crazy i didn't even know it was p-roach and i was thinking that the song was f-in amazing. Then when i heard it was papa roach i was like DAMN! They have finally done it. I knew just from that song that they finally grew to there full potental. This cd is amazing and its not just that one song, there are a few okay songs but besides that the rest a awsome! I didn't even consider myself a papa roach fan before this cd now I am all with them and i can't wait to see them live.

Free Music Review: WILD & COOL!!!!!!!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

WHY DO I THINK THIS IS THE BEST "ROCK" CD EVER? Because; the band is tough all around! No other "rock" CD is more wild than this one!

SO HOW DOES THIS CD COMPARE TO RIVAL CD'S? I want to compare this CD to Green Day's American Idiot CD. First of all, this CD doesn't have any insults about America, unlike Green Day; remember the "idiot" in "american idiot?" that's what I thought. Second of all, this CD is ok for people like me. Plus they play a cuple of songes from this CD on a few video games and other stuff. Green Day's American Idiot doesn't have any of it's bad songs anywhere including video games! Third of all, the band of this CD looks tough, not like zombies like Green Day! And I'm just tired of listening to bands that look like zombies; there's to much of them! Fourth of all, this CD doesn't have any songs about romance or anything to do with love, unlike Green Day and all the other bans that talk about it!

HOW DOES THIS CD IMPRESS ME? Well, whenever I think of some of the songs from this CD, it makes me happy a lot of times and it makes me concentrate of serious thing in my life like school and sports. And always whenever I listen to this CD, I sometimes feel like getting up and dancing to this CD until I get tired like crazy!

WHAT'S MY FAVORITE PARTS OF THIS CD? My two favorite songs on this CD is Not Listening (Because of the type beat to this song) and Getting Away With Murder (Because of the heavy rock in this song). Plus I like the title of this CD; Getting Away With Murder, and I like the style of the CD's cover!

ANYTHING ELSE? I'm glad PAPA ROACH created this CD! This CD could be the best you've ever seen in your entire life! I don't think any other band is going to create a better CD than this one! Trust me, you're going to like this CD as much as I do, and not enjoy the other bad CDs. So go ahead; listen to
