Free Music Review: Now they've matured
Hit: 5 Stars

I like this new album because it has a blend of songs varying from metal to alternative. The only song i may not like is scars but i completely respect why they did that song which in my opinion is to attract some fans because they are not all that popular and still arint really but more than they used to be.
ALL THE SONGS

1.Blood: Singing with great lyrics it has a little screaming but ultimetly has some nice guitar in it. 8.1/10
2.Not Listening: Definetly the only filler on the album it truly has no meaning and does not sound good at all. 4.2/10
3.Stop Looking/Start Seeing: A nice comeback to Not Listening. with a heavier sound and nice guitar work. 9.5/10
4.Take Me: has some meaning lyrics like (Im burning in the heavens and drowning in a H*** and now we are dancing in the ashes). 8.9/10
5.Getting Away With Murder: The Title song and it has to live up to the prestige of being good and it does just that with a heavier sound and lots of bass guetar with a long guitar solo at the beggining. 9.9/10
6.Be Free: sort of bland but a good song its gets boring after you hear it to much. 6.1/10
7.Done With You: A great come back to a bad song called be free. 9.1/10
8.Scars: Not my personal favorite but i respect why they did that song. 7.1/10
9.Sometimes: Maybe the lightest song on the album but it is still very good. nice lyrics like(this moment in time is what i betrayed but i am searching for the answers). 9.6/10
10.Blanket Of Fear: one of the heaviet on the album. Nice guitar solo at the beginning. 10/10
11.Tyrranny of Normality: The heaviest on album with alot more screaming then the rest of the album great song with great lyrics. 10/10
12.Do Or Die: A great dway to end a great album. 9.7/10

Free Music Review: Evolve or Die said MTV. And Papa Roach has evolved big time!
Hit: 5 Stars

MTV.com made a report about how Nu-Metal/Rap-Rock bands are no longer a fad and that some bands stayed the same and fluorished (Korn, Linkin Park) how some stayed the same and died (Crazy Town) and how some had to change their style to stay alive (POD, Limp Bizkit) including Papa Roach. They tried to evolve with "lovehatetragedy" but failed and it seemed like the end for Papa Roach. Until now.

Now the first I heard of "Getting Away with Murder" was at the HFStival in Washington DC, and I thought OK why not check out the album. Luckily MTV put the album on THE LEAK for me to preview it(to see if it would be worth the money). And Papa Roach raised the feeling in me from "OK Im listening to the music" to "HEY....this is really good music!".

The whole album caught my attention, from the track listing relating to dark feelings (Blood, Not Listening, Getting Away with Murder, Scars, Do or Die, (I Wanna)Be Free, etc) to the lyrics of every song sounding very constructive and clever, to Jacoby's pipe-cleaned vocals making the songs sound more professional,to the rock sounds that changes after track 5,it didnt sound like the Papa Roach I know but it still sounded very smart and hard.

I am not a true Papa Roach fan. I only know three songs from "Infest"(Last Resort, Broken Home, Between Angels and Insects) and I bought and hated all but two songs (She Loves Me Not, Time and Time Again) from "lovehatetragedy". But once I heard this new album, I can't stop hearing it. Some albums are good for a few listens but die out but this album grabs onto you and never lets go.

To all you fans who love Rock, this album is definitely worth all the pennies. This may be...no it IS Papa Roach's best album yet. And it is an essential rock CD in the name of Rock. Papa Roach has evolved into a worthy surviving species.

Free Music Review: A welcomed change
Hit: 5 Stars

So, I was at target picking up breaking benjamin's newest cd when the p.roach cover caught my eye. I had remembered these guys from their "last resort" days and decided against getting their album that day (rap/metal is totally stupid). About a month later I heard "Scars" on the radio and I was like "wow, thats pretty good". To my surprise, it was a papa roach song. I went back to the store that week to pick up getting away with murder and found out that it wasn't on sale anymore (figures), but none the less, its been more than worth what I paid.

These guys are straight up rock this time around, and they're not giving into any "for the moment" trends (i.e going "Screamo" or w/e you want to call it). Thats really what makes this album stand out from the rest; it's real, and doesn't sound like something manufactured and made to fit the current markets. These guys have always said their music was a mix of rock, punk and alternative metal, and it actually shows this time around. Stand out tracks would have to include: Getting away with murder, Scars and Do or Die.

However, to be fair, not everything about was great about "Getting away with murder". At times, the album showed its pop, radio friendly side. Some of the songs just didn't pack enough punch, and at times, left me wondering why they didn't change this part or that word. And while I'm all for free speech, and I swear all the effin time, some of the profanity just wasn't needed (if you're just putting it in there for shock value, it shows, bigtime).

I'd say if you're into anyone from Breaking Benjamin and Nickelback to RUFiO and Jimmy eat world, pick up P.roach's "getting away with murder". Its got fast songs, slow songs, hard songs, soft songs, and most importantly, catchy songs.

Free Music Review: Absolutely excellent
Hit: 5 Stars

Now, I will preface this by saying I have been a HUGE Papa Roach fan sin hearing "Infest". From what I've been seeing in some of the previous reviews, a lot of people are confused on the new direction of Papa Roach. If you didn't hear their last offering "Lovehatetragedy", this "transformation" had started a while ago. The guys in the band are not dumb; the "Nu-Metal" craze really has died. Thus comes "Getting Away With Murder", a much different album for the guys. However, I can tell you already that this CD will get MUCH more spin time than a lot of the newer albums of other bands.

I won't do a song-by song rundown (as someone has already done that, and I agree with just about everything), but here are some highlights:

Excellent choice with "Blood" for the opener. It really sets you up for the rest of the album. "Not Listening" is also an excellent song. It obviously has some political undertones (as does much of the CD) By now, just about everyone has heard "Getting Away With Murder" which I absolutely love as well. I'm not usually one to enjoy the singles over the rest, but in this case, I'll make an exception. "Done With You", "Scars", "Sometimes", "Be Free", "Take Me", etc...I could go on for a while. Wonderful choice with "Do or Die" for an ending as well.

All-in-all, an enjoyable CD from start to finish. To all those who dislike this CD, I'm sorry but Papa Roach has moved on from "Last Resort"; you should too.
