Free Music Notes for Getting Away With MurderFree Music Review: The Best Album of 2004! Hit: 5 Stars
"Getting Away With Murder," Papa Roach's newest cd, is amazing in every way possible. It easily is the best album of the year, and possibly one of my favorite albums of all time. Papa Roach have changed their sound every album, and their new sound is possibly the best yet. Here's a breakdown of the songs:
Blood- 10/10 Perfect way to start off the cd. Best song on here.
Not Listening- 9/10 Great song.
Stop Looking Start Seeing- 9/10 Another really good song.
Take Me- 10/10 Amazing. One of the best on here, right behind "Blood."
Getting Away With Murder- 10/10- First single from the cd and a damn good single at that.
Be Free- 8/10 Good but not as great as other songs.
Done With You- 9/10 Very good.
Scars- 10/10 Next single and just all around amazing song. Could be a BIG hit.
Sometimes- 10/10 Awesome song. Starts off slow then gets heavier.
Blanket of Fear- 8/10 Good song but not as good as any of the other songs of the cd.
Tyranny of Normality- 9/10 Great song but doesn't compete with a lot of the other tracks.
Do or Die- 9/10 Perfect way to end the album. Great song. Perfect lyrics for an ending song.
Well there you have it. Papa Roach's new CD is a must have. It is essential to all rock lover's collections. BUY IT NOW!
Free Music Review: stop whining about style change!-extremely well done Hit: 5 Stars
papa roach follow a trend of eveolving each album.while many bands tend to become bland and uninspiring with each latter release, papa roach have stepped it up, possible inspired by a lack of sales of the peculiar "lovehatetragedy" and the political views of frontman jacoby (a rock band dislikes bush, what else is new?).putting the nonsense aside, papa roach have created an album totally different from their previous two."infest" was based on the rapcore explosion of early 2000, and "lovehatetragedy" was a stab at muddy production and a diverse mix of technology and other elements."GAWM" explores a more mellow side, yet still remaining true to the roots of P-Roach, with tracks like "not listening","stop looking/start seeing",and "tyranny of normality".the songs are easy to digest, and are very personal for jacoby."be free" is a foot stomping exploration of his alcoholism while "scars" probably deals with torn memoirs of his past.papa roach may have alienated some of their old fanbase with this new cd, but "GAWM" proves why papa roach have remained stalwarts in a stagnant music industry and continue to put out great albums that are fun to listen to years after their releases.also, go see them live-they are easily one of the best live acts around.seriously, these guys are for real.great stuff.
Free Music Review: Not What I Expected Hit: 5 Stars
So yeah, when I was like 13 I was into "Last Resort" and the whole rap-rock thing, but in the almost 6 years since that song made it's debut, I've changed, a little. The good (or bad, depending on your style) news is that so have P.Roach. "Getting Away With Murder" sounds little like "Infest", ditching the dated rap-rock and going straight for the pop melodies and emotive lyircs of more modern trends. I won't lie, originally I was skeptical about picking this one up, but my fears where quickly put to ease by the opening track "Blood" and the others gems which quickly followed.
This is one of those albums that you can just play straight through, and even after it ends, you can pick it up at track one and still be entertained for another spin. My favorites Include: Not Listening, Take Me, Scars (don't listen to the retard named "mr.hat" below me, it sounds nothing like Simple Plan), Done with you and Do or Die.
No album is w/o atleast a couple letdowns: #1. No reggae songs in the vein of "tight rope" (i miss those) #2. Although rap-rock is somewhat dated, P.roach was really good at it. I would have liked a little bit of hip-hop thrown in, just for old times sake.
Be sure to pick up Infest and Lovehatetragedy If you haven't already.
Free Music Review: Getting Away with Greatness Hit: 5 Stars
Before one can fully understand the depth and beauty of this album it is important to look at PR's previous offerings. Infest hit fans with raw energy and in-your-face agression; this led it Papa's initial success. For thier follow-up, they stripped away the raw energy and started a transformation to a more dynamic sound, and diverse lyrical content. Unfortunatly, as the song 'Depression Period' may indicate the album was moody and depressive; and the limited range of both the vocals and guitar work added to this overall tone. This was less than well received--not to mention years too late--as at times Papa sounded like a relic of the Grunge era. Enter 'Getting Away with Murder' this album is both dynamic and powerful. It takes the energy of Infest and combines it with a now perfected dynamic to create one of the most emotional, powerful, energetic, and unforgettable albums in recent memory. With their new entery Papa reinvigorates themselves, as well as a genre that is sorely lacking energetic, powerful rock. The only negative about this album is that it will probably slip past many music fans--recently obsessed with 50's bullet wounds and poppy, effeminate, emo punk--who will inevitably overlook such a truly creative album.
