Free Music Review: Amazing music
Hit: 5 Stars

Before you pick up this album, forget Last Resort. If you are buying this because you saw the Last Resort video on TRL, and you heard they were on tour with Limp Bizkit and Eminem, you will probably be disapointed, because Last Resort is the only mainstream track on here. Not to say that Last Resort isn't awesome or powerful, it's just that the band is deeper musically and lyrically and on a different level on most of the tracks. There are some awesome songs on here. Although the issues and themes portrayed in the bands songs are the already cliched personal problem tracks of other rock/rap bands, for some reason Papa Roach comes off performing them better than most others. There is so much, well, anger in this album, but it's not the type of music that normally puts you in an angry mood. Once you listen to this album you will be amazed by the depth and talent they share. Broken Home is very, very powerful, and Between Angels and Insects is as deep a theme as anything Tori Amos has written. One reason that this album is so powerful is that the order of the songs works very well. With some artists, they just throw songs together in any random order, but on this CD the flow actually works. Like one reviewer has already stated, Thrown Away into Tightrope works very well. I'd definately recommend this to you if you aren't buying this because of mainstream exposure. Not to say that I don't like mainstream stuff, because I do, but this band is a lot deeper and more mature than Britney Spears or Backstreet Boys.

Free Music Review: Infesting your mind...
Hit: 5 Stars

This might very well be the best major label debut I've heard in a few years!
This album has something for everyone...
For the more rap loving crowd there's the title track (01) Infest, which blends rap with, admittedly, a lot of screaming and emotion, which for me works fine.
Then you get Track 2, Last Resort, probably the best known track on the album which seamlessly blends rap and metal together, something Papa Roach seems to do a LOT better than Limp Bizkit.
Track 3 is my personal favorite, Broken Home. This track is pure rock. Nary any rap to be found within and the end is so gripping and heavy that I just can't help but listen to it over and over again... This song surpassed Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana) as my favorite rock song ever, and that is quite an accomplishment... This is also one of PR's msot lyrical songs...
Skipping the next number of songs doesn't mean they're bad but they're just basically the same as Last Resort.
Now to track 10, Binge, this song has a completely different feel from the other songs, sounding more like an experiment than a track that was supposed to be on this album. Don't get me wrong, I like this song, a lot (more than Last Resort), but it's just odd... An excellent song none the less.

There you have it, my Infest review. Good in all respects and if the band can find some new material they will come back bigger and better with their next album...

Best track: 03 - Broken Home
Worst track: 04 - Dead Cell

Free Music Review: Let The Infection Begin
Hit: 5 Stars

An equation for you all: Papa Roach = Next Big Thing.

Want proof? Listen to Infest. Infest is the most in your face record to be released in the last six months, maybe the last year. Combining the feel of P.O.D. and the charisma and songwriting skill of Faith No More (whose lead singer Mike Patton is idolized by Papa Roach vocalist Cody) Papa Roach produces an album that is worthy of the mosh pit, the skate ramp, and stereos everywhere.

Papa Roach's genre may be brand new: emocore. This is rock and rap fueled by pure emotion. Look at the group's first single, "Last Resort". The guitars spit out a kick *** riff while vocalist Cody screams "Would it be wrong/ would it be right/ If I took my life tonight/ Chances are that I might/" over beating drums and flowing bass. It's catchy. It's powerful. It is still one of the weakest cuts off the album. And, in this reviewer's opinion, "Last Resort" is one of the best songs I've heard in awhile. Getting the feel for the rest of the album? Some of the best: "Broken Home", "Revenge" and the band's call to arms "Infest".

Papa Roach is touring clubs now (I got tickets for May 9 with Taproot.) before hitting the Warped Tour to get national attention. This album is getting one of my strongest recomendations ever. It is truly a must buy. Pick Infest up and earn more for fifteen bucks than you ever have before. Consider yourselves infected.

Free Music Review: It may be mainstream but it is pretty good.
Hit: 5 Stars

I really, I mean REALLY hate people who don't listen to a particular band because they think they "sold out" or because the "got popular". Papa Roach has become popular, yes so what? Your opinion on them should be based on their music and not their success. Anyways enough of the rambling....

1. Infest- 5/5 Infest is a really cool song that I think should've been their first single. It's aggressive and catchy and still is "radio friendly".

2. Last Resort- 1/5 Terrible....just terrible... not just because musically it sounds like a direct (...) of Green Day's Brainstew but because they rip it off AND butcher it.

3. Broken Home- 4/5 It sounds really cool in my car. Reason enough for me to like it.

4. Dead Cell- 5/5 I'd call it their heaviest song on the album besides Thrown Away. Lyrically it's decent but the energy Coby carries in it makes the song.

5. Between Angels and Insects- 5/5 Best song hands down.

6. Blood Brothers- 5/5 really cool guitar work.

7. Revenge- 4/5 It starts off slow but ends pretty well.

8. Snakes- 5/5 Sounds kinda punkish

9. Never Enough- 3/5 Least favorite besides Last Resort.

10. Binge- 3.5/5 kinda boring.

11. Thrown Away- 5/5 Really fast and agressive. and it leads into... *hidden* Tight Rope- 5/5 A REALLY cool reggeaish song that ends the album perfectly.

Free Music Review: How I grew from an R&B fan to a Rock fan
Hit: 5 Stars

One thing you all need to know. I'm a huge R&B fan. Not much of a rock/alternative fan. How did I find out about P. Roach? I first heard "Last Resort" on the radio during a vacation. Papa Roach infested my head and I instantly hunger for more. I resided near the radio, constantly listening for when the song would be on again so I could savor the beats and catch the name and artist of the song. I did. You bet I got the mp3 onto my computer faster than you can blink. A friend told me about "Broken Home." In a few minutes, that mp3 was in my computer. Listening to that song for the first time, I was ecstatic. Papa Roach was excellent! I loved that secret track "Tightrope." Papa Roach brought me into the world of rock. I searched through the Napster database and downloaded a few more of P. Roach's songs. I listened, overjoyed with each song I hear. I was beyond pleased. I considered buying the CD. I finally did, even though I heard a few of their songs. After the whole CD was done, I was smiling widely. Papa Roach was everything. Papa Roach's song was the first rock song I actually loved and expanded my music horizon. Right now, I'm a huge rock fan, R&B almost completely disappearing out of my sight, and forever I will be Papa Roach's fan. That's how good Papa Roach was.
