Free Music Review: Evolution
Hit: 5 Stars

Now, Papa Roaches third major release 'Getting Away With Murder' is by far their best effort, but it was here that they made the transition between rap/metal act and genuine rock act. Pretty much leaving the rap behind (not entirly, but it's not a central key to their music here) they embraced the rock genre and grew up in a sense. Tackling deeper subjects, even the deterioration for a time of the band (Decompression Period). Some of Roaches best tracks come from the subdued melodramatic offerings like the aformentioned and 'Black Clouds' (one of the best on the album) where they really shine as musicions and Coby shines as a singer and a song writer. Songs like 'Life is a Bullet' and 'Time and Time Again' show us where this band is at, with great rock riffs and catchy chorus lines that sound perfect for the radio. This isn't to say that Papa Roach has sold out, but more that they've evolved with the time. When they released 'Infest' the radio waves were flooded with the likes of 'Limp Bizket' and 'The Deftones' (the latter still being one kick @$$ band) and so rap/rock, being the in thing, was the way to go. As the years have gapped their albums, the times have changed and what was in is not, and so acting on intelligence they crafted an album that still screamed Papa Roach but they adapted enough to fit in with what the public wanted. The first single off the album 'She Loves Me Not' was an instant ear-opener and drew many to buy this album, but really that song is the weakest and most shallow of the tracks, but it's still a good song, don't get me wrong it's just that the rest of the album shows much higher intelligence. Pick it up and listen to a good band that has matured into a great one.

Free Music Review: Screw the rapping, this cd kicks!
Hit: 5 Stars

With Infest, everybody (well, most of the people who hadn't heard their earlier stuff anyway)thought that they were just another rap-metal band that were just trying to imitate the sounds of like minded groups, such as Limp Bizkit, The Deftones, and Rage Aginst the Machine. It wasn't a bad album by any means, in fact a lot of the songs had quite an original sound to them. But still, many people labeled them as "rap-metal" and thought that they would throw in the towel a few months after the release of Infest. All I want to say to those people is "up yours". Lovehatetragedy is a surpring and solid album. They pretty much abandon their past "rapcore" style, for more melodic straightforward punk/hard rock tunes. They definately show this on songs such as "M-80" (my personal favorite), "Walking Thru Barbed Wire", "S.I.D.(singular indestructible droid)" and "Code of Energy". Jacoby Shaddix (who leagally changed his name from Coby Dick)shows off how he can sing a variety of melodies and still change the tempo at will. After listening to this album, you can tell that, even though he was great at kickin ryhmes, he was meant for this type of stuff. Even rap-metal fans should give this album a try, even though some of them might be turned away by the lack of rapped lyrics (except in "She Loves Me Not"). Definately pick this album up if you like any of their older stuff (Old Friends From Young Years and 5 Tracks Deep come to mind), even though it isn't quite as raw. My favorite are "M-80", "Life is a Bullet", "Born With Nothing, Die With Everything" and "Black Clouds". O Yeah, almost forgot, you also pick up their new album Dancing In the Ashes when it comes out, it might please some Infest fans.

Free Music Review: GREAT!
Hit: 5 Stars

The albums great but yes its hard to tell which song's which because all his songs are similair, but anyway great album worth buying. The best song on the album is TIME AND TIME AGAIN
which has the best intro with the the band doing some howl with the guitars being played heavy, and the music after that is great, and the chorus is good and its the singers voice at his best.
I may not know what papa roach's albums where like before this one since i've only just been introduced to them, But all i can say is that its a great album and i gave it a 5 stars mainly because i would give this album more than an 8/10, and if it was given an eight out of ten i'd give it 4 stars. I can only think of 3 band better than papa roach, system of a down, linkin park and korn. ... I think papa roach should try make each of his songs sound different to one because it takes ages to remember what each song sounds like. If your thinking of getting the album don't get the one with bonus [stuff] because the album has to bonus tracks and there both bad, any way my least favorite song on the album is gauge away which is trying to say that if you ever have any problems you can gauge away which im sure means something like take drugs. The most well known song on the album is propbably SHE LOVES ME NOT which is a very rappy song with mad guitar riffs. The saddest song on the album is WALKING THRU BARBED WIRE which i think he is talking about a pet of his that he missed and that he could die for him/her and he wishes him/her good luck in their next life. Overall great album worth buying so WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR! GO BUY IT!

Free Music Review: Take it from a true musician...
Hit: 5 Stars

I've played paino for 10 years...I've played guitar for 6 years...I've played bass for 3 years...I've played drums for 3 years...and I sang for 2 years. Yes i know a lot about music...and yes this is a good cd. Papa Roach is one of the few groups out today that has talent. On this album they dropped the 90's rap/rock thing (thank god) and moved on to a more melodic sound. This can be heard in songs such as "Black Clouds" with its heavy sustaining distorted guitar chords and the clean guitar playin in the backround..."Decompression Period"...a slower song...could almost be acoustic...then the album swings to a fast punkish feel iwth "M-80 Explosive Energy Movement"....and finally ends up with your alternative rock hard hitting "Born with Nothing Die With Everything". The lyrics on this cd have a great meaning to them...going from relationships and love...to the hate htat consumes the world today..and finally to fighting on through life even in its lowest moments. Although the rap thing was dropped...papa roach still managed to come up with newer and complex rythyms that will still have you bangin your hand on the steering wheel and nodding your head to them as you lay in bed. This cd is much much better than their recent release "infest"...which dont get me wrong...i still enjoyed but their true talent is shown on this album. They have a new cd coming out August 31st and their single "getting away with murder" is already out! I suggest you all check it out!

Free Music Review: its kinda like rock/alternative and punk/pop in a blender
Hit: 5 Stars

first of all, there is nothing "metal" about papa roach. their riffs may have been stolen from old metal bands on the awful "infest", but this is a new album with a very new/different sound. if you're looking for metal or nu-metal, check out disturbed, metallica, shadows fall or other similar metal bands instead, cuz their ain't none on here.

now, on to the album....

Being a punk fan myself, i'd never thought i'd be into a band like p.roach, that is, until I heard "scars" (from their newest album). after loving that song and downloading a couple more, i decided to go to the music store and pick up their album. while i was there i came across "infest" (which i'd heard years earlier and hated...rap/metal is so, SO stupid) and another one called lovehatetragedy. I'd had never heard of it before, but the guys next to me said that if i liked "getting away w/ murder", i'd like lovehatetragedy too. so, i bought it, got home and had the mind numbing task of deciding which to listen to first. i decided on lovehatetragedy, and from the opening chords on M-80 to the catchiness of time and time again to the raw aggression of never said it, i knew i'd picked a winner. this is a great album, and if you like getting away w/ murder, you'll love lovehatetragedy. I'm glad these guys ditched rap/metal in favor of melodic rock, and i can't wait for some new material...
