Free Music Review: BORING ! Hit: 1 StarsI don't know the state of mind of those people that like this CD are - to each his own I guess. This cd is like Avril Lavigne b-sides meets Jimmy Eat World with a large slice of boring. I can't believe Atlantic signed this group - what were you guys thinking ? And WHO wrote the 5 star reviews - the Marketing Dept at Atlantic ? Minor label yes ! Major? NO ! Once again, the main stream has been pissed in ! And to the band : Yes, the singer has a decent voice, but the band is lacking something - a gutteral music punch or something - I haven't checked out your minor label stuff - but I'll guess it's better since the pressure was off. But I suggest for your Major label sophomore cd (Which is the make or break cd) kick it up a notch or Atlantic will drop you faster than you can blink! You have potential - but your Major debut is dry and boring. And I hate to say it - but Avril Lavigne writes better songs than you guys. But you can do it ! Kick it up ! Or you're gonna get dropped and Atlantic won't care!
Free Music Review: Fun for All Ages! Hit: 4 StarsOk I'm old enough to be a mom to these kids, but I've been playing this cd NONSTOP in my car since getting it weeks ago. The band is tight and I like everything about the music. The drummer is excellent, and the whole band has great energy. The songs are catchy.
Dare I say they remind me of No Doubt (minus the ska, prominent bass and quirky singing)?
Keep it up Paramore!! I will definitely check out your other recordings.
Free Music Review: RIOT! Hit: 4 Starsi love this CD but the more i listen to it the less excited i am about it for some reason. as great as it is that girls are taking a stand in the music industry, in some bands, a female lead is just an insult to the band. but for paramore, i couldnt imagine a guy singing (especially their lyrics). it may be b/c their lead is a female that the lyrics are the way they are, but paramore wouldnt be paramore w/o hayley. i got to meet her when they played at an imtimate venue in my area b4 the release of RIOT! and she's really cool.
Free Music Review: Finally, something new I like. Hit: 5 StarsI will up front here, music has gone no where for these past 10 years. Unless you count releases from bands have been around before 2000 or a real dimond in the rough like Coldplay this whole decade has been nothing but re-hash of bubblegum pop, Hip-hop that has lost it's realy roots and Emo, that makes you want to claw your face off. Then, out of no where Paramore comes along. Where do you put them? In the Power pop/Emo catagory, but there is something about them that makes them stand out. They have Haley Williams singing. I always say that when a female is taking the lead vocals the music always sounds better. The sound of a womans voice in rock makes the music easier to bare and less annoying! Thanks to this young lady Paramore is actually a sound that is great to listen to. There is not one song on this album I don't like and the loud guitars defintelly make this album blast worthy in the car. Paramore is a pretty fresh act being the owner of both albums 'Riot' is one step forward if you listen to songs like 'Misery Business', 'When It Rains' and the very off beat 'Fences' I hope this quartet decides to move forward with their sound and release an enjoyable third album soon.
