Free Music Review: :::::::Paris Hilton: human being/artist/actress/& more!
Hit: 5 Stars

This CD is a first class effort by Paris Hilton & co. beginning with the album's photography and graphics. I generally listen to classical or jazz music but I enjoyed the simplistic reggae-vibe of STARS ARE BLIND for a change of genre. The second track 'Fightin' Over Me has very clever musical phrasing and interludes of rap. I like the lyrics and driving intensity in 'Jealousy' that "it [jealousy] is such an evil." Well put. The song is a good reminder of how we can easily be overcome by jealously because we tend to overlook how lucky we each are in our own way. My favorite track in this CD is NOTHING IN THIS WORLD. This cut could certainly be part of soundtrack to a movie. Great job Ms. Hilton! I look forward to seeing your music grow and evolve from here on. And thanks for giving others in the industry work.

Free Music Review: ...But it's not like I was expecting much, anyway
Hit: 3 Stars

I think Paris Hilton knows herself that she doesn't have that much talent; in fact, I think Jay Leno put it best in one of his monologues when he said something along the lines of, "Paris Hilton said that in a few years, she wants to retire. From WHAT?" Nonetheless, I decided to give her album Paris a listen.

Unsurprisingly, Paris doesn't have the strongest set of chops, but the album as a whole isn't terrible, either. The reason why I give it three stars is because while the songs are okay, it kind of sounds like ANYone could be singing these tunes. And there are still a few missteps, like "Jealousy" and the mindless club track "Not Leaving Without You". The Scott Storch-produced "Fightin' Over Me" (with Fat Joe and Jadakiss), an obvious attempt to reach out to the hip-hop audience, is pretty lame; and although Paris' cover of Rod Stewart's "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" isn't as bad as I thought it would be, it really didn't do anything FOR me either.

Paris Hilton's album isn't the worst album in the world, but it really doesn't do anything to grab the listener's attention either. But hey, if weak vocalists like Hilary Duff and Cassie can land recording contracts, why can't Paris?

Free Music Review: Who gave her a record deal anyway?
Hit: 1 Stars

Paris Hilton with a record deal?Who gave one to hurt?Ok,there is such thing as being kind but c'mon that person was being wayyy to kind if they gave her a record deal! For one,she can't even sing! What's the use of having a cd if ya have no voice for it?Why don't she try acting or working and saying "Do ya want fries with that" cuz she should!I mean whay would she even wanna sing if she knows she can not?She is nice and preety and all but why give stupid and shallow people a reason to back her up?Really, stupid and shallow people make sites saying how jealous that people who don't care for Paris are of her! That's just stupid! We all have a right to like something that maybe not everyone else is gonna like!

The album is a complete dissapointment except for maybe one song,"Stars are blind."It is the only maybe good song except for hearing a terrible and ok voice. It should be used as a luluby and that's it.She tries to say she's s hot and she even sings about her being so hott! That's pathetic! She's trying so hard to be this and it makes her so something else!

Free Music Review: Just a Really Solid Pop Album - it really is
Hit: 4 Stars

Well, you would think an album like this sets itself up for the highest criticism, but the shocker is that its actually quite listenable. Is it a pop masterpiece? Not yet. I would have to listen to this maybe a year later to figure that one out. At the moment though, its clearly the best pop CD released so far this year, as its perhaps the only one that has memorable choruses and singalong verses, and lets face it, we're all suckers for this.

I think this will attract negative reviews because of Paris being who she is. If you separate the personality from the singer, the CD really works. Make no mistake, at no point on this album does Paris position herself as a 'singer'. This is more like Madonna's "Confessions on a Dance Floor" territory, where the tunes are king. And what killer tunes they are!

Just for the record, I think "Stars Are Blind" is the worst song on the CD. There are other gems far more worthy as single material.

"Screwed" is a classic example of what a really good pop tune is. This is fun music and is instantly memorable. Yes, Paris' warbling and lack of vocal direction shows up, but hey, shes no better than say, Cassie or Danity Kane. In fact, on occassions where she can hold a tune, such as on "I Want You", the album is a revelation. Yes indeedy, this song is certainly the highlight of the album for me, and is light years more listenable than the pathetic excuse of a song that the bootleg version was.

The many highlights include the beautiful "Jealousy", which has a really tuneful chorus. I especially like the album opener "Turn It Up", and its' thumping bassline. Just play this loud in your car and you'll know what I'm talking about. This percussion is to die for and its an extremely well produced track.

Someone I played this album for said that it reminded him of Kylie Minogues' "Impossible Princess" CD from 1997. Well, I don't think its going to last that well, but it certainly is a revelation on many other levels. First of all, the girl knows how to make a hit record. Second, the production rocks. And third, these are songs you will be humming to yourself even after just one listen. I think all of these are praiseworthy efforts indeed, and certainly elevate this album to a well deserved status of "Classic Pop Album", perhaps in years to come.

What a suprising delight. I highly recommend this.
