Free Music Notes for Greatest Hits by Pat BenatarFree Music Review: Finally! All Pat Benatar's hits on one CD!! Hit: 5 Stars
First off, I gotta say the remastering job on this CD is SUPERB, befitting a rock goddess like Pat Benatar! With that said ...
Yes, it's true! Finally one CD compiles all Pat's Top 40 hits! From her debut single "Heartbreaker" to 1988's explosive "All Fired Up," the undisputed queen of '80s rock is in fine form throughout. In addition to the 17 included hits, this CD features three songs that received outstanding radio airplay but were never released as singles, and therefore did not chart. I mean, can you believe "Hell Is For Children" was never a single? What an awesome song!
I love every single song on this CD, especially the classics "We Live For Love," "We Belong" and the life-affirming "One Love." Granted, a few tracks ("Looking For A Stranger" and "Ooh Ooh Song") have dated sounds, but overall this disc showcases the fine, classic rock of Pat Benatar. And Pat's voice is amazing on every song. Buy it for yourself! Buy it for a friend!!!
(Note: The version of "We Belong" on this CD is the album version, not the single version with the vocal "We belong/We belong to the light" intro that was played on the radio.)
Free Music Review: EXCELLENT compilation! Hit: 5 Stars
This collection has almost everything that you would want in a Pat Benatar Greatest Hits cd, however there are a few songs missing. I think people seem to forget that Pat is still making good rock music well into the year 2005!
The following omissions(in my opinion) should have been included on this disc: "True Love" (from the cd True Love) "Everybody Lay Down" and "Somebody's Baby" (from the cd Gravity's Rainbow) "Strawberry Wine" (from the cd Innamorata) and most recently "Go" and "Brave" (from the cd GO).
Although Ms. Benatar fails to get the recognition she deserves these days, after listening to just one song from this cd, you can clearly tell she has made her place in rock music history! Whether you choose to listen to vintage Benatar or modern day Benatar, one thing still remains very clear, this woman can belt out the tunes!
If you get a chance, check out Pat live on her yearly summer tour. If you enjoy listening to Pat's studio tracks, wait until you hear her sing live..it's amazing!
Free Music Review: Pat gives it her all collection!! Hit: 5 Stars
Yup, this is the best sounding single cd collection of Pat's hottest tunes thus far. The sound is clear and full and the song selection is very good. Here we have most if not all of the really well known Benatar tunes. The first 10 or 12 songs are guitar driven rock tunes and the rest are more main stream rock with a little more radio friendly softer side of Pat being put forward. The packing is ok nothing great or earth shattering. I would have liked some more pictures and a little more history of one of rocks greatest female singers, however what it has or says is good enough in regards to what this women means to the rock world. Pat Benatar has always been a personal favorite of mine and this package of solid hard driving tunes shows me why!
If you like this cd?, pick up GO as well as Pat has returned to here hard rock roots in spades with that release!!
Well done, well done indeed!
Free Music Review: Best Female Singer Of The Past 40 Years. Hit: 5 Stars
Pat Benatar is a natural. This compilation has been thoroughly reviewed, so I will focus on four very different songs. Her phenomenal voice comes piercing through on "Heartbreaker," a jaunty tune with catchy lyrics & intense energy. In "I need a lover," she deciphers a females self-awareness that is rarely heard from in this genre of music. "We Live For Love," is a smooth sensual song that appeals to the romantic in all of us. This one is good for dancing or driving on a breezy autumn day. "Hell Is For Children," a deeply disturbing tune with its descriptions of child abuse. It brings out any decent persons protectiveness towards kids everywhere. Lastly, in "Love Is A Battlefield." She takes the listener on a roller coaster ride of emotions. The honest lyrics & her perfect delivery makes one ponder the title. All of her fans will be pleased with this entire compilation. It has no flaws.
Free Music Review: Excellent Hit: 5 Stars
I had forgotten just how good Pat Benatar was, and this album reminded me. I never bought a Pat Benatar album before, but had enjoyed many of her songs growing up and when i saw this compilation, I got it, and have listened to it several times since.
You can see and listen to the play list up at the top, so I won't talk about that, suffice to say that all of her top 40 singles are on the album. There is also a brief history of her life which I found interesting to read, including her first husband (which is how she got the name Benetar), and the fact her monther was an opera singer.
The other thing I took away from this album is a much greater appreciation for her talent. The woman really could sing, in stark contrast to a lot of the acts of the '80s that were all image. This performer had talent and I am glad I am finally able to recognize it.
