Free Music Notes for True LoveFree Music Review: Wow... Hit: 5 Stars
I must admit that I did not start listening to Pat Benatar until recently (I only have two of her other CDs). However, I think that True Love is absolutely amazing. If you're looking for some really excellent Pat Benatar, or some excellent blues, then just get this CD! Heck, why are you reading the reviews?! Buy the CD!Not one particular song comes out in my mind, for they were all incredible. But you can tell that all of the musicians (especially Pat) were having a great time recording this album. I always thought that Pat Benatar had a great voice. When I learned that she also sang the blues, I became very excited. And now I know... Pat Benatar has an excellent jazz voice as well. She is truly talented, and the fact that she can do well in any genre is an attestment to that.
Free Music Review: Pat Benatar takes a stab at "the blues" Hit: 5 Stars
A few years back, I bought Pat Benatar's double CD of "All Fired Up: The Best of Pat Benatar" and from there I heard three great bluesy numbers: B. B. King's "Payin' the Cost to Be The Boss", "So Long" (which I have an early James Brown version), and Pat Benatar's and Neil Giraldo's own title track "True Love".
All three of these songs are fabulous! I knew I had to find the original album called "True Love" and I certainly was not disappointed. She sings great covers on some Blues Standards and she and Neil work with a blues band, not her original band.
Every track on this album is great. It would be great if Pat Benatar did another blues album because she's got the energy and the voice for belting out some fabulous blues.
Free Music Review: Pat Benatar's Surprise Treasure Hit: 5 Stars
I became aware of this album by way of the "True Love" video. Tracking it down on Amazon (where else of course) proved to be a great move. It's a fast paced smokin' jump blues album that BELONGS in you Benatar collection. This little lady heats up songs like Bloodshot Eyes, Payin' the Cost to be the Boss, I Feel Lucky, Good Life as well as providing sultry vocals to the afore-mentioned True Love and So Long. This lady can sing! And the backing musicians are all spot on top notch people. Do yourself a favor, if your a Pat Benatar fan or a blues lover (I'm both),and definately give this album the listen it deserves. And,just maybe, if we get lucky, she'll do another one someday.
Free Music Review: Different for Pat, but GREAT! Hit: 5 Stars
For Benatar's rock fans, this one had to be a shock/letdown. But if you listen to it with an open musical mind, it will grow on you in a hurry. I'm a big fan of her earlier, harder rock records, but as a big blues fan as well, this has turned into one of the most played CD's in my collection over the past fifteen years. Whenever I play it for somebody who hasn't heard it, they love it and can't believe it's Pat Benatar. It'll definitely keep your feet moving. Roomful of Blues horns keep it hot throughout. I highly recommend it to any blues fan.
Free Music Review: You've got to hear it! Hit: 5 Stars
I've been a Benatar fan since the 80's but was skeptical of this CD. In fact, I was so skeptical I didn't buy it until almost 10 years after it's release. However, after I heard her in concert for the first time and she sang several songs from "True Love" I knew I had to get it. This CD is absolutely incredible! Pat sounds better than ever. It is a must have for any Benatar fan, who appreciates a true talent with the vocal abilities that many of today's recording stars lack.
