Free Music Notes for Patsy Cline - The Definitive Collection

Free Music Review: "Crazy" to NOT buy this album!
Hit: 5 Stars

Yesterday, I walked into my local media store and saw this gem without knowing that day was the day Patsy Cline's Definitive Collection hit the stores. Thought it was a wonder that I didn't see this kind of collection (22 songs) for this kind of price (won't name it here but better than any double CD) before. So of course I took it home with me. Got hooked on Patsy when Dad would play her "12 Greatest Hits" CD (back when CD's first came to being in the mid-80s). Loved her ever since. There is no one who can match the country teardrop in her voice, the sassiness she gets on "Walking After Midnight", her wistful song selections from the ballads to the honky-tonkin' twangers. And this collection proves it. Buy it, you will not be disappointed. Unless you hate gool ol' country music, in which you're not reading this review anyways.

Free Music Review: It Just Keeps Getting Better
Hit: 5 Stars

Although there are more Patsy Cline remasters and compilations than you can count (over 200 with Amazon), this one has the best sound. Maybe because it has the newest technology, but remastering is as much art as science, and Doug Schwartz is one of the best. Compliments to him for a terrific job. The voice track stands out better from the music tracks and has an amazing amount of detail and reality.

And the voice, of course, is the standard of what country music is all about. Whether it's the lament of "Leaving on Your Mind" or the oldest standard, "Always", no one could wrap around a song and put more into it/get more out of it than she did. Simply and without anything extra. No matter how many or few of her albums you have, buy this one to discover a new presence to her voice and fall in love with her again.

Free Music Review: Oh all right it's fantastic!
Hit: 5 Stars

Bearing in mind I absolutely and passionately love Patsy's Greatest Hits album, this one comes a very close second. You will need Greatest Hits for the ideal version of "Walkin' After Midnight", an improvement on the original included here.

Patsy's vocal persona was one of wounded, obsessional devotion. "Crazy" is indeed her theme song. With ten more tracks to share her unbalanced dedication, all of which are well worth inclusion, you just have all that much longer to enjoy her. Bear in mind I have only listened once, I feel confident the entire contents will form an essential part of my listening regime.

As a vehicle for demonstrating Patsy's incomparable communicative powers, this CD is probably the best you can get. Greatest Hits is pure refined gold, this one is an entire gold mine. Start digging.

Free Music Review: Great!
Hit: 5 Stars

It is fortunate that some of the best sounding music of all time is still available to us via recordings.

Current production may have oodles of scientific technology available to produce high quality sound- but the material lacks quality.

It is rare indeed when the words of a vocal are easy to understand. Artists used to enunciate and not scream or otherwise nullify the message that used to be written into song material.

Remember: we used to have melody! Pleasant sounding melody with words that could help to provide an in depth experience.
o what the words were that she was singing. Her voice did an excellent job of providing some extremely easy listening.

This is a great collection of her singing!

Free Music Review: She's Got You
Hit: 5 Stars

If you have an unlimited budget than nothing can replace the original albums, however this album is better than just a sampler. With 22 songs they cover just about Everson's favorites. For those new to Patsy you will not feel that you miss anything with this collection. For me it is nostalgic and I fall right back into the time of the original airing on the radio.

Everyone recognizes songs like "I Fall To Pieces". But it is the ones that we do not hear all the time that makes this album worth while and before you know it "She's Got You"
