RHYTHM OF THE STREET is one my favourite song of Patti! Tracks 1 and 7 are also really good, but the rest of the album is not to remember for me. The album is produced by Quincy Jones, Narada Michael Walden, David Pack, Glen Ballard & Clif Magness, and Ollie E. Brown.Free Music Review: Starstruck

I bought the album when it first came out so I was amazed to find it on CD. I bought it at my first opportunity and I am not disappointed. It is a product of the '80s to be sure. I can tell especially from the cuts produced by Narada Michael Walden: Rhythm of the Street, Hot! In The Flames of Love and Starstruck. I like the urgency of "Rhythm of the Street". "Hot!" sounds like a retread but "Starstruck" really gets to me with those finger snaps before the downbeat. It brings up good memeories. "It's Gonna Be Special" is pure pop to me, but Patti makes it count. The other cuts don't impress me as much, but they are all eminently hummable. Classic jazz vocalist + well produced pop and R&B songs = a highly enjoyable album. Patti Austin's self titled album is a fun album that will primarily appeal to fans of 80's style pop and R&B. Every song on this album is good. In fact, this is my favorite album by Patti Austin. It is one of the few albums that I own in which I actually like every song. This album also borders on being campy (in a good way though, as many 80s albums are). Just listen to "Shoot The Moon" or "Change Your Attitude" and you'll see what I mean. Overall, hard core jazz fans that that do not like pop and R&B will probably not like this album, however, music fans who appreciate pop and R&B will enjoy this album. AS most of us well know Patti Austin is one of the most underrated singers in the entire music world!!! Which is a pathetic but expected shame!! NOW....this album is again classic and Patti's ability to take ANY kind of mediocre song and turn it into sheer magic is clearly on display here! WELL worth the purchase she is one of the absolute best in any and every genre! This cd displays that. Can't wait til she makes another pop/r&b/dance cd which her talents tend to burn quite bright!!!!Free Music Review: One Of Her Best!!!!

I Was So Happy To Get This Cd!!! It Is One Of Patti's Best Featuring So HOT Songs Produced By Some Of The Greatest Producers Of The 1980's!! Patti Austin Is One Of The Great Vocalists Of Our Time And There Are Nothing But Winners On This Cd!!!!! And It Plays On My Computer!!!!
