Patty Griffin's greatest strengths are: 1) Her amazing voice and 2) Her amazing songwriting. That noisy band backing her up on Flaming Red (that drowned out both of those strengths) is gone and we've got our old Patty BACK! If you loved her first album, you'll love this one too. If you've never heard Patty, you are not yet living. Get with it! I've seen her in concert now three times, and she is simply the best artist working today. Go see her. I am not one to gush about any decent CD or book that I buy. Having said that, 1000 Kisses may be one of my favorite albums from anyone. The music is beautful and the lyrics are meaningful; and that folks means everything. I like 'Living with Ghosts' as well, but this album brings the same deep meaning with a somewhat more mellow tone and greater variety. I have to disagree with one reviewer on the track 'Chief' - Patty Griffin's music is imbued with a deep sense of social justice and I think that 'Chief' fits well with that sensibility.Free Music Review: Resouding Return Of a Folk Phenom

1000 Kisses is a wonderful return of an under-exposedtalent. Patty Griffin brings heartfelt & soaring voice
to songs with passion that takes the so-called "folk"
category to a new level. The bare instrumentals, not
over-produced, highlight soaring vocals that are just
a pleasure to hear again and again. The 39+ minute
length is too short & we can only hope that the
creativity keeps flowing & the record label tangles
don't prevent a great talent from returning soon!

1000 Kisses is singer-songwriter Patty Griffin's masterpiece. Personal, soulful and haunting; there is not a bad song in the collection. If you are new to Patty Griffin or don't own any of her recordings, I highly recommend that you start with this one. The songs are acoustic and lean, pared down to their essential spirit. Patty's voice is rich and controlled, her words poetic and moving. There is something extremely traditional yet very contemporary about Patty Griffin. My personal favorite on this recording is "Tomorrow Night".Free Music Review: love this 5 Stars
i found this cd while looking at the new lucinda williams cd, i decided to take a listen. i had heard of patti griffin before but never listened to her music.....big mistake. i decided to buy this cd instead of the new l. williams one. i love this cd. my fav. songs are rain and tomorrow night. when i played rain for the first time, i had chillbumps all over. this cd makes me want to sit and have a nice glass of wine and i don't even drink wine:). anyway i just ordered children running through, can't wait till it gets here.
