Free Music Notes for Impossible DreamFree Music Review: WOW! Hit: 5 Stars
WOW! is the word that describes!! I found Patty Griffin only last year and bought everything she has recorded.Flaming Red was my last purchase of hers and I put that off because after reading reviews I wondered if it was going to be too busy for me. I was surprised to find I liked it just as well as the others. Then came a dry spell.....I was thirsy for more! Addicted to her voice I was craving the next "flavor". Wha-la!!! The notice came of her new album. I pre-ordered it,got it,and have been "drinking" the sweet rewards like there's no bottom to my glass. This album is so sweet and mellow and moves so well from one song to the next. There are catchy little melodies and most surprisisng to me was the brass section sprinkled in amongst the softness. It works!!! And so refreshing.AHHHHHH! filler up Patty! We are waiting already!
Free Music Review: Impossible Dreams are made possible by Patty's voice Hit: 5 Stars
I pre-ordered and while I await delivery of product I have streamed the CD from my digital locker. Patty has to be one of the most under rated singer songwriters out there. This CD is full of magic with my favorite, for now, being Useless Desires. If you are a Patty Griffin fan buy the disc. If you are not a fan you will be after listening to the disc or any of her others.I saw Patty with Chapin-Carpenter, Williams and Colvin on the Singer Songwriter Tour. I had never heard Dar Williams or Patty Griffin before. I fell in love with both of them that night. Patty is on tour this Spring/Summer so check out her schedule. She is here in Minneapolis on 5/18. If you get a chance I urge you to see this woman and hear her beautiful voice. The voice of an angel here on earth... a dream made possible. Thanks Patty for another lovely piece of work!
Free Music Review: Always waiting for Patty Hit: 5 Stars
There must be a little piece of heaven hidden in her voice... I don't know why I find myself thinking of who I really am, who I became through my 30 years, or who I will never be. I guess it's the remaining simplicity with which she sings, as if she were telling you her one true secret, or a story she believes it's worth sharing. Maybe I could say that Patty Griffin's music has a healing effect on me - how crazy does that sounds?... - it's like staring at the ocean, you can stay there for hours and be sure you can change the unchanging, well, I guess I can listen to her and just wait to be wrap in her sweet, always astonishingly intimate, but powerful voice. The album is exquisite, and songs like "useless desires", "cold as it gets" or "kite", they're just proofs of that.
Free Music Review: Another Masterpiece Hit: 5 Stars
Patty Griffin reaffirms her spot as the best singer songwriter currently working today. Period. Impossible Dream is arguably her best album to date, at least best one that has been released. Her songwriting is intimate, and her sound is full and eclectic. She moves seemlessly from genre to genre, without it ever feeling like a stretch for her. Patty has come a long way since Living With Ghosts (also a favourite), but her songs and integrity have not suffered the least along the way. How nice to see some more of her "Silver Bell" songs resurrected, and matching, if not surpassing, the originals in quality and style. Each Patty Griffin CD is a treat that I anxiously await, and this one is no different. Stronger and more cohesive than 1000 Kisses, this is Patty at her finest.
Free Music Review: Literally took my breath away the very 1st time I listened Hit: 5 Stars
I have NEVER bought an album before that literally took my breath away. Not to mention it gave me chills and almost made me cry...at the first listen. I just kept waiting for a song that I would skip past, and there are none on this album. Patty is a lyrical genius, her voice is amongst the top female voices out there, and she can't write a bad tune. Every song on this album not only is entertaining and beautiful, but it takes you somewhere and makes you have all kinds of feelings. All the songs are unique and have a different flavor from each other. Patty can do folk, blues, gospel, and she still rocks. Kite Song and Rowing Song are like child hood lullubyes, Cold as it Gets is pure and raw folk, Useless Desires and Florida send you soaring and everything else cuts you deep.
