Free Music Notes for Impossible DreamFree Music Review: Patty is an angel Hit: 5 Stars
With each new release, Patty convinces me that she is an angel sent by god to make up for his/her miscalculations (think Britney or Hillary Duff.) This album mesmerizes. "Useless Desires" is one of those Patty songs that starts out slow and sort of whispery, but builds into a showcase for her soaring, beautiful voice. And it's a treat to hear Patty sing "Top of The World" in her signature style. This is a must-have for any lover of the singer/songwriter style, but, then again, of course you're probably listening to it already!
Free Music Review: A spiritual experience Hit: 5 Stars
I LOVE Patty Griffin. Her music somehow makes me feel connected to the universe. She tears out my heart, fluffs it like a pillow, and gives it back to me, fresher, more comfortable, and with more room for love. So far, my favorite cuts from Impossible Dream are Mother of God and Love Throws a Line, although When It Don't Come Easy is also extraordinary. Some of her lyrics are riddles that my brain doesn't quite understand but my heart and soul understand completely. Can you tell I love her music? Just buy this CD. Now! You'll love it, too.
Free Music Review: Transcendent Hit: 5 Stars
I first discovered Patty Griffin when a friend of mine gave me a copy of Living With Ghosts. I was blown away by Griffin's raw emotion she was able to convey with just her voice and guitar. Impossible Dream is another masterpiece, an album so in tune with human emotion that it can only be described as an experience when listened to. Some songs are just her an her guitar while others incorporate other instruments, all while maintaining a finely-tuned balance. She is a brilliant singer and sogwriter and this album is not to be missed.
Free Music Review: brilliant Hit: 5 Stars
This is the second CD that Patty has made me weep. Brilliant analogies that are open for personal interpretation reach into your soul. She improves with each release. A Kiss in Time was my favorite CD until Impossible dream. The standouts in order 1. when it don't come easy 2. Useless desires 3. Mother of God. 4. Top of the World. All the others are excellent. She truly has an amazing combination of songwriting and an emotionally piercing voice one of the greatest talents out. Buy it and a few copies to pass out to friends.
Free Music Review: Sometimes so sweet. Sometimes so lonely. Hit: 5 Stars
How can someone be this good? How can such a songwriter get this close to the nerve? How can such a singer wrap her hands around your heart every time she opens her mouth? Ever since LIVING WITH GHOSTS and especially her duet with Julie Miller on Austin City Limits, I was hooked. How can one resist? This album is a bit less accessible than the last two but every bit as beautiful, poetic, and unique. Mysterious, in fact. And that use of a mournful tuba! Who'd have thought? We all owe her a minimum of 1000 kisses.
