Free Music Notes for Silence Followed by a Deafening RoarFree Music Review: Holy Crap! One of the Best Guitar discs of the year! Hit: 5 Stars
This disc just kicks major butt. From start to finish this is an unbelievable guitar instrumental cd.
Gilbert, one time guitarist of Mr. Big and Racer X, is one of the best guitarists out there and with this disc he proves it.
I saw him last year on the G3 tour with Satriani and John Pertrucci and he's just amazing live. He played the crap out of his guitar, but at the same time, by the look on his face, he was having fun and obviously loves what he does.
Go out and buy this disc, you won't be sorry.
Free Music Review: Play this one on 11! Hit: 5 Stars
I recently bought this title along with PG's "Fuzz Universe" and must tell you that "Silence Followed By A Deafening Roar" has spent alot more time in my CD player thus far. Top to bottom and track for track, this rivals any all-instrumental guitar title I own (including John Petrucci's "Suspended Animation"--my all-time favorite). If you like Satch, Timmons, Johnson, Vai, or Petrucci, this is a disc worthy of owning.
Very tasty tunes, so I give this two thumbs WAY up!!
Free Music Review: Pure Pleasure Hit: 5 Stars
How amazing is it that Paul Gilbert can create music with or without vocals and still be totally entertaining. He is just that talented. This is an amazing CD. This grabs my attention when I'm listening and I get enveloped in the music and not distracted by anything else. It is a great 'getaway'. If you love guitar, and not just shredding, but melodic guitar, great riffs and different musical styles, buy this. The band plays great together, you won't be disappointed.
Free Music Review: Another Great album From Paul Hit: 5 Stars
Paul has put together another album that not only shows his guitar skills but his ear for great melody and catchy hooks. The songs flow and make for a great listen. I do hope he hasent givin up on singing though because he's no slouch when it comes to singing in my opinion. Most shredding guitar players cant sing a lick but Paul can carry a tune better than most so called lead singers and sing backup quite well.
You wont be let down with this album.
Free Music Review: PG is just too cool for words. Hit: 5 Stars
GREAT CD! I have been meaning to get around to buying some of Paul Gilbert's work for years. But I never made the leap. And I found out I've been missing out (Mr.) Big time!
This CD makes me smile every time I put it on. The tracks are fun, ballsy, slamming and just flat-out rocking. PG is just so melodic, his notes touch me in a way I can't even really describe.
My only complaint is now I have to spend MORE money on his other work!
