Free Music Notes for Red Rose Speedway

Free Music Review: Mediocre at best
Hit: 1 Stars

Talk about mediocre song writing! John Lennon was right when he proclaimed McCartney's post Beatles work as pretty bad. The release of this album was in part due to McCartney's ego, he believed he was a genius and could do no wrong. This album proves otherwise. Also, being high almost all of the time had caught up with McCartney and almost everything sounded good to his deluded senses.

Free Music Review: Mediocre McCartney With Strong Bonus Tracks
Hit: 2 Stars

"Red Rose Speedway" (1973) shows Paul McCartney and Wings struggling to take flight before the breakthrough of "Band on the Run." It's a sloppy, directionless album that emphasizes McCartney's worst qualities. Only Paul could get away with a ludicrous hit single such as "My Love." However, the CD bonus tracks -- "Hi Hi Hi," "The Mess," "I Lie Around" and the reggae-flavored "C Moon" -- are consistently strong. McCartney really needs a box set to showcase these hidden gems.

Free Music Review: MY LOVE.......
Hit: 3 Stars

I never really got into this lp or cd, my love was great , It had it's rocking moments.

Free Music Review: Paul's underrated album
Hit: 5 Stars

There's really no point going into detail for each song. Why? Because honestly, they all sound the same- show-offy, bombastic-sounding, brightly-produced pop songs. The entire album is filled with them. Supposedly it was hard working witih Paul McCartney's ego for this album, but luckily everything worked out fine and the album was made.

Sure, Red Rose Speedway *sounds* like a Barry Manilow record, but the quality of the songwriting isn't any different than it always was (and I mean that as a compliment- I love Paul's solo career). The guy simply knew how to write great songs, and it shows once again. Sure, it's not as good as the Beatles, but what is? One of Paul's more underrated efforts, seeing as how "My Love" is the only song that gets any attention from the album it seems. Usually albums that contain one big hit actually have a bunch of more equally enjoyable songs, and this is another example of that.

Free Music Review: Love that medley!
Hit: 4 Stars

Okay, just what is wrong with "My Love"? I mean, it's hokey as all get-out, but I don't care, it's got a damned good melody, and an even better guitar solo. Just why it's mocked so often is beyond my admittedly limited comprehension. And that's not even the Best songs on the album, though it's close: my blessing goes to "Big Barn Bed", a raunchy blues-rocker. Quite a few other picks, too: the long, closing medley ("Hold Me Tight/Lazy Dynamite/Hands of Love/Power Cut") isn't the Abbey Road medley, but it's varied and lighthearted enough to keep itself going; "Get on the Right" works despite some of the worst backing vocals I've ever heard anywhere; "When the Night" has a catchy refrain. Some of it's rather silly ("One More Kiss", "Single Pigeon"), some of it just doesn't belong anywhere (the disjointed "Little Lamb Dragonfly"). Bar those three, this is exceptional. Not to mention my favorite McCartney solo album other than Band on the Run (and maybe London Town).
