Free Music Review: Great for all ages
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a truly great CD for all ages - both baby boomer Beatles fans as well fans of his solo career and even today's younger fans. Everything I have read about his back-up band being so great is really true. They are accomplished musicians that play extroardinarily good together and give the CD a quality of sound that really enhances the songs. While the acoustic set on the first CD gets a little long it really shows Paul's gift and his ability to reach out and touch individuals in a live performance. The rest of the CD really rocks. "Back in the USSR" is truly a great song and the following "Maybe I'm Amazed", one of his first great songs after the Beatles, is phenomenal. "Getting Better" is also a great cut and the ending trilogy of songs in the second CD leave you almost breathless. You'll find yourself singing along at the top of you voice.

The overall quality of the CD is excellent and it plays as a continuous concert, unlike his earlier live CD that came out a few years ago.

This is a must buy for Beatles fans. Get it now!

Free Music Review: Spirited and entertaining
Hit: 5 Stars

"Wings Over America" and the unplugged "...CCCP" aside, Paul McCartney's live albums have been pretty lackluster affairs, long on professionalism, short on entertainment value. This time out he delivers a spirited and appealing set worthy of capturing on disk. The less-charitable will suggest it is the inclusion of so many Beatles songs that lifts the set above the ordinary, but set list aside, McCartney is singing and playing with more passion and vigor than in the recent past, and besides, who has more of a right to string together these old chestnuts than their composer? Some nice touches keep this from being just a "Beatlemania" roadshow, like sincere tributes to John ("Here Today") and George (a lovely "Something") and McCartney's rapport with an obviously enthusiastic audience. This isn't an essential CD by any means, but it is a collection of great songs, well played and engagingly delivered, that stands up to repeated listening and that's no small praise these days. A DVD version is also available.

Free Music Review: Magical... My memories of him in Columbus come back to me in
Hit: 5 Stars

this CD set... I loved most of the songs and relived every single emotion all over again through this 2 CD set... I loved "Can't buy me love", "Yesterday" "Band On the Run", and all the tributes to his new wife, Linda, John and George...

It was so nice to see him performing again... He is embrasing his Beatles past while looking ahead to the future... the song for America says it all. "Freedom" is a great song that he wrote for us... I thank you Paul for caring about us so much...

I was so fortunate to see him when he was here in Columbus Ohio.. Whenever I need a pick me up, this CD and the DVD takes me back to when I was in the same room with a legend... This is a great way to serve Beatle fans that were not around in the 60's and the wings fans of the 70's that were small kids..

Anyway... I am 31 years old and took the chance to see him... This CD AND the DVD are great things to have if you want to relive a memory... That is what the CD does for me.... I hope it will for you too...

Free Music Review: Excellent mix of McCartney concert music
Hit: 5 Stars

This is probably the best CD set of Paul's concerts. Wings Over America and Tripping the Live Fantastic are very good, but if you are going to own just one, Back in the U.S. is the one to get.

The CD set spans a great period of time, covering many different types of McCartney songs - with the Beatles, Wings, and a solo artist. There is a great set of accoustic songs on this collection like Blackbird, We Can Work It Out, Carry That Weight among others. The best is Every Night. These versions are not over-orchestrated. Here Today sounds different than the version on the album Tug of War because there are not the violins. But after a listen or two, one hears the raw emotion of the song.

Overall, this CD set focuses more on McCartney's voice and less on the production and other instruments compared to some of the other concert albums. Getting Better is a real treat, it would have been great if it had been followed by Fixing a Hole, but such is not the case.

Anyone who likes good rock and roll music should own this CD.

Free Music Review: Terrific!
Hit: 5 Stars

This live CD set from Paul McCartney's 2002 Driving US tour is absolutely terrific. There is a good mix of the best of McCartney's solo works with all the mandatory Beatle's classics, all impeccably performed by McCartney's exuberent first-rate band.

The sound quality is superb, with the mix so pristine you can hear the clear seperation of guitars, drums, keyboards and vocals.

If I had a minor quibble, I wished more of the in-between song banter had been retained. Paul usually provided some introduction regarding the history of most of the songs, and it feels strange at times not hearing it here. It's also somewhat sad his very heartfelt comments before the tributes to John (Here Today) and George (Something) are missing.

Overall, I am very happy to own this set. It does rekindle the memories when I saw this tour in Oct 2002, along with most of the magic of that wonderful night. Even if you weren't there, if you're a Beatles fan there is still much to enjoy.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
