Free Music Notes for Memory Almost Full - CD/DVD Deluxe EditionFree Music Review: Paul is NOT dead... Hit: 4 Stars
If you grew up with the Beatles, and followed their solo careers, and looked forward to their new albums, you knew too many months and years in which Paul did NOT release anything - especially in the '80s and '90s. I remember being concerned that maybe we'd heard the last of Paul, or that his creative juices had all dried up. "Driving Rain" and "Chaos and Creation" were hints that this was not so.
"Memory Almost Full" is a nice, refreshing confirmation that Paul still has much to offer. I'm also one who bought the "deluxe" CD when it came out. I couldn't help but notice that the 3 bonus tracks were among my favorites and fully deserved to be on the main album. I also enjoyed the track-by-track commentary - that doesn't seem to be on this offering.
The video DVD and live performances are nice additions. I agree that they should have all been on the original deluxe package. Maybe that release needs to be ignored and people need to be pointed to this offering instead?
I hope to be retired by the time I'm Paul's age. I'm glad to see that he's not. He's still producing some great tunes, and he's open to trying new tricks of the trade and venues for getting his music out to the masses. (How many 60+ year-olds have a YouTube site?)
He's still singing - and I'm still listening... Hopefully, this collaboration of ours will continue for many more years to come!
Thanks, Paul!
Free Music Review: Why the complains? Hit: 4 Stars
Everybody knows that in today's business, when an album sells off, the re-editions must have any new feature, just to keep on capting new people. That's why I wait a little bit before I buy an album (especially Paul's albums).
However the edition, this disc is pretty good. I enjoy it a lot. The only thing that worried me was that strange one: 'The end of the end'. For Paul's style that is a rare state of instrospection.
Free Music Review: Bank Account Almost Empty (Deluxe Version) Hit: 4 Stars
Geez Paulie, give us a break. This CD should have been issued like this when it was FIRST released, not after we already spent our hard earned Beatle Bucks on the McCartney years DVD, Help, Ringo's cd.etc.... I guess I'll get a burned copy of the DVD from a friend. Now that is a bargain. (should have gotten that Pre-nup, I guess Heather hit you over your head with her wooden leg and you forgot.)
Free Music Review: MEMORY ALMOST FULL Hit: 4 Stars
One of the most creative in pop music work art from Sir Paul, Macca or Paullie, depends where you're from and the nickname used in different countries...
For those who DID NOT BUY the previous issue June 2007 yet. For the others, nothing really new compared to the June issue.
Free Music Review: Decent McCartney Album Hit: 3 Stars
If, like me, you turned away from keeping tabs on McCartney after the one-two punch of "Silly Love Songs" and "Let 'Em In", you've secretly been hoping he'd pull something brilliant and timeless out of the hat.
"Memory Almost Full" is a decent, though not spectacular, album. The packaging is well done, with lyrics to a couple songs and a pointer to McCartney's website for the remainder of the lyrics. The bonus tracks come across as works in progress, instrumental workouts of songs that haven't yet found their completed statement. Enjoyable and a nice little plus, but not a must-have.
I must confess that I've had this CD/DVD Deluxe edition for a few weeks now and I haven't gotten around to viewing the DVD portion of it yet.
If you haven't gotten a McCartney album since his peak with "Band on the Run" or "Venus and Mars", I'd strongly recommend opting for "Tug of War" first. Except for its sappy single "Ebony and Ivory", that album was as good or better than McCartney's best from the seventies. Still, hearing Paul's voice on "Memory Almost Full" is like coming home and it will remind you of how fond we've always been of Sir Paul.
