Free Music Review: mccartney memory almost full new cd release from paul
Hit: 5 Stars

I bought this cd about one week after the release date. I think that it is worth buying for a few reasons, first it is a great cd with some fine music on it,and almost all the songs are very good,i could only pick one or two songs that I do not like, but the songs on the limited edition the three extra are very good and i am surprised how good ,they could have been put on the main cd or on his next,so I recommend the limited edition but the regular edition is ok if you do not want to spend the extra money.I had to listen to most of the songs a few times and they grew on me and I have played the cd at least 15 times and I still like it. This is a winner, buy the cd and show Paul we still care about his new music and help him because so many people get the music illegally and for free hurting the cd sales, I know he does not need the money but he needs some fans who got enjoyment from his musical career to show support now,and as a bonus get a great cd by a great artist who is not given enough credit for his solo career Thanks for all the great music Paul.

Free Music Review: Mature Macca an intriguing introspective rocker
Hit: 5 Stars

The themes of introspection and coming to terms with mortality infuse this album with a depth we haven't seen from Paul McCartney before, and yet...this album rocks! It's as musically compelling as anything McCartney has done, and has more of a "Wings" feel than other recent albums. "Only Mama Knows" is especially reminiscent of Wings but could have fit perfectly in a Fountains of Wayne album.

The album's lyrics deal with looking back on a life well spent, some of the songs allude to his recent marital problems (and you can hear a Linda sound-alike harmony in one of them). The next to last song, The "End of The End," is almost sure to be the song that's played at his funeral, but its message is one of comfort for all who mourn the loss of someone they love.

Paul McCartney isn't writing silly love songs any more. He's aging gracefully and writing about topics that are entirely appropriate for someone who recently turned 65, The songs are wonderful. This is a masterpiece and if you're a McCartney fan, this is a must buy.

Free Music Review: Fantastic album with best deluxe packaging of Paul's career!
Hit: 5 Stars

I'll start by saying the album is wonderful, and to me it is in the top three of his career, a distinction that it shares with 2005's Chaos and Creation in the Backyard and 1971's Ram. We are all blessed that at this stage in his career, Paul can produce some of his greatest works. Now, as for this deluxe package, it's absolutely fabulous for any Paul fan. Usually, we have to go around picking up all the singles to get the b-sides, but in this package we get them as 3 bonus tracks included on the second disk! We also get a 25 minute walk through the songs on the album with Paul. I was going to call it an analysis of the album, but Paul tends to not overly analyze anything, and I respect that. I would love to have a similar "walk through" done for each of Paul's 20 other albums, but I am delighted that we at least, get this one! This is a great album and a fantastic package, get it! Oh, and I like all three bonus tracks, even the instrumental, and I normally don't like many instrumentals, but this one is very cool!

Free Music Review: Brilliant!
Hit: 5 Stars

Like several others, I bought this disc at Starbucks on my way to work this morning. When I got home I listened with my Bose headphones on and it was a remarkable experience. It truly is a terrific album. There are many moments where you say to yourself, "Gee. Nobody but McCartney would do that... or even think of trying that!" One must marvel at Paul's ability to keep it fresh and exciting. He still can do it all. And he probably does it better than anyone else.

Additionally, I feel that some of his recent classical work has had a good effect on some of the compositions & arrangements. If its possible he seems to have matured even more as a writer!

I'm trying to recall my favorite tracks. As I do so, I realize that the whole cd just flows so perfectly that I can't pick out a tune or two. There are so many great moments that I tend to look at this as a whole. The more I listen the more I realize this is a spectacular listening experience. I think I'll go give it another spin!

Free Music Review: Let's talk packaging....
Hit: 5 Stars

Musically, this is a very good album and other people cover that well. (Between this and Chaos I can finally forgive him for Pipes of Peace.) I was torn between ordering the standard version or the deluxe. I'm glad I went for the deluxe because it reminds me of when getting a new LP was an event. Granted, this won't fit on your cd rack, but it brings you back to when the packaging was part of the art. Opening a cd is just flip case, drop disc. Really, how often do you bother to look at the lyric book (if there is one) once you know the songs? This is a trade paperback sized case that folds open on both sides. There are multiple pictures of Paul that flow well together, then reveal the 2 discs in the center. The lyric sheet is backed with the mentioned postcard sized snaps and is an actual fold out lyric sheet. It's part of the experience in the same way packaging for The White Album was. It demands that you pay attention to it instead of flip open, extract disc, cast aside. Well done.
