Free Music Notes for Memory Almost Full [Deluxe Limited Edition]Free Music Review: He's still got it! Hit: 5 Stars
It's disappointing to read the negative reviews here regarding 'Memory Almost Full'. I suppose some folks will not be satisfied with anything less than another 'Band on the Run'. We are all changed through the years by life's experiences and it's perfectly understandable for a songwriter to express his or her own changing perspectives through song. The McCartney of 2007 is not the same as the McCartney of 1973; so what's wrong with that? I think this is a fine collection of songs and it continues to grow on me with every listen. The only negative thing for me is the inclusion of the song 'Gratitude'. It's a weak addition to an otherwise outstanding collection of songs. Overall, I definitely recommend this CD.
Free Music Review: Put on your fuzzy socks Hit: 5 Stars
I am a giddy 47 year old female who received this album from my husband on the day of its release. The photos included are worth the cost of the CD. Hey girls, get out your thumbtacks! I could never disrespect Paul's work, art, and the love that his puts into his music. I tried to read too much into the album thinking he would reflect on his recent personal troubles, but could not even go there once I heard the entire album. Kudos to Paul! It is a must have for your collection. His voice is uninterrupted with time and it's so easy to visualize him singing the songs as well. As with all of his solo releases, they grow on you as they play time and time again. He is a legend in so many ways.
Free Music Review: No slack needs to be cut here; this is just a fantastic album. Hit: 5 Stars
McCartney manages to present some fresh new sounds while keeping very close to ghosts of the past. The rockers kick butt, the ballads are lovely as always, there are harmonies, there is sentiment, there is interesting lyricism and best of all to me, some of that great lead guitar playing of Paul's. I've been a fan of his for quite a long time, but truthfully I don't listen to much of his work past 'Flaming Pie' Actually, I don't listen to it at all, but this one? I know I'm going to wear out the disk.
Note to potential buyers: The album does NOT sound like the song you've been hearing in the iPod ads ('Dance Tonight' - the ukelele-based track.) It's tremendous and not hokey.
Free Music Review: Great album great show Hit: 5 Stars
I was priveleged to be able to see Paul perform 5 of the new numbers in NY exactly a month ago today. It was extraordinary. House of Wax had the room levitating off the floor. How one person is capable of producing so much brilliant work is amazing. Nod Your Head takes on a new meaning when you are asked to do so by Paul. I would have given that the weakest song on the album but hearing it live just brought it up to par. The only part I don't like about the album is the mixing. It sounds too harsh for my ears and I would have preferred a softer approach, but tweaking a few knobs usually takes care of that. Thanks once again for another brilliant album in less than 2 years!
Free Music Review: Awesome Beatles-level Classic! Hit: 5 Stars
I've followed the Beatles intensely since 1963 and tracked all their solo careers since the 'Fab Four' broke up. Paul's "Memory Almost Full" is a really stunning record to me. I did not expect it to be this great. All tracks are excellent. It is expertly crafted from start to finish. This record is truly a Beatles-level classic. I also recommend buying the book "Paul McCartney: Many Years From Now" by Barry Miles. Buy it and "Memory Almost Full" and you've got the perfect snapshot story of this Beatle Legend's amazing artistic life. "THANK YOU!" Paul for another masterpiece record!!! I'm playing this record over and over and over!
