Free Music Review: I like this guy
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a really neat album. I was turned onto the music when I saw a song called, "Dance Tonight" in a commercial. I thought it was kind of peppy and made me smile like when McDonalds gives me an extra order of fries in my bag by mistake. I'm probably going to get mcdonalds tonight because their fries are the best. Anyway, back to my review. Paul McCartney used to sing in a band called the Beatles. They were from Britain and talked with an accent that comes with that country. They recorded songs and sold a whole bunch of albums. My mom told me that they were much more important than Manfred Mann's Earth Band. I believe her. I really liked the song Eleanor Rigby. It made me think about bugs. After the beatles, his wife and him had a group called Wings, like the TV show. They sold lots of albums too. My mom told me they were better than ABBA. I disagreed with her on that one. McCartney then joined a vaudeville act with Michael Jackson, sold tonic and sang Say,Say,Say. Those were good days my friend.

Now he has this album out and it is really groovy. I like a lot of songs on it, but my favorites are:

Dance Tonight- What a happy ditty
See your sunshine- What a happy ditty
Mr. Bellamy- A great tribute to former Mtv host Bill Bellamy
Vintage Clothes- What a happy ditty
Feet in the clouds- Best song about feet I've heard since that Absorbine Jr. song from 1984.

This CD will make you long for the days of yore, when oxen worked the fields and life was simple. People didn't care about Paris Hilton back then. Sign me up for a return to those days. Please get this CD so this man gets the money he needs.

Free Music Review: Classic McCartney
Hit: 5 Stars

The atomsphere on this album displays McCartney's different and brilliant styles and craft developed through his fifty plus years of experience (he started writing before meeting Lennon). These different styles and periods accumulated developped and innovated come together here, sometimes partly sometimes totally. Some songs are Beatlesque,McCartney I,Band on the run,Driving rain & McCartney sounds fresher and more grounded on this album than on Chaos and Creation for example. His lead signing is strong and less constrained on most tracks(65 this month). The backup vocals (his own) are innovative with well interwoven balanced/blended staccatos taking root from many Beatles, Beach Boys and Wings songs. McCartney's musical virtuoso is again displayed with quite good lead guitar riffs, accomplished piano playing (remember the piano intro.on "While my guitar gently weeps") and of course his trademark unorthodox bass playing style.
McCartney's musical prodegy is astonishing : he plays most of the instruments (horns and strings excepted... but give him time ha. ha.),does all the vocals, writes his own songs, directs the hired studio horn and strings players although he still cannot write or read music. I'm a Beatles and McCartney fan and if anyone thinks I'm being somewhat bias, ask yourself this question : who else in today's music industry can accomplish all of the above, for so many decades and do it so well so consistently ? Look at his track record and you will discover that McCartney is more than a musician... he is... An "Icon".

Free Music Review: McCartney creates on hell of a catchy and enjoyable pop-rock album
Hit: 5 Stars

The Good
Despite its mixture of folk guitar (possibly ukulele) and washboard percussion, "Dance Tonight" is quite the catchy tune. You've probably heard it in an iTunes commercial. The lyrics are simple and to-the-point. "Ever Present Past" has more of a rock vibe to it, with its electric guitars and driving rhythms. "Only Mama Knows" begins with a long string section that is slowly replaced with a killer guitar lick. The track continues at a fevered paced with subtle chugga-chugga riffs and forceful vocals. Who knew Paul still had it in him?

McCartney kicks into his signature falsetto on "You Tell Me." The track echoes material that might have appeared on the Sgt. Pepper's album. "Vintage Clothes" is a little dated in its sound, but it seems somewhat appropriate for the lyrical content. "That Was Me" has a great percussive bounce to it. "House of Wax" is a powerful track full of musical emotion. It's almost epic in its delivery.

The Bad
There are a couple of tracks I would classify for "fans only."

The Verdict
I was never really a fan, or enemy for that matter, of The Beatles music or their respective solo work. McCartney's last album, 2005's Chaos and Creation in the Backyard left me decision-less, due to the lack of what I would deem "new fan" appealing material. However, after listening to Memory Almost Full, I can come to a distinct conclusion. From beginning to end, McCartney creates on hell of a catchy and enjoyable pop-rock album. It's no wonder this guy's a legend.

Free Music Review: Dang, Paulie's still got it!!
Hit: 5 Stars

Even as a longtime Beatles fan, I approach some of Sir Paul's solo work with trepidation. We diehard fans still love him even though he's had a few hits and misses over the years. Some say he should retire; although he still plays to packed houses and can rock with the best of 'em even still. I really enjoyed Chaos and Creation and was delighted when I reached for this and gave it a listen. Paul can still "rock out" and has created some driving beats and rhythms that make me nod my head and jam with the headphones on super loud!

The first two tracks will have you stomping your feet and dancing, just as they're intended to. Other enjoyable tracks are Mr. Bellamy (slightly reminiscent of Simon and Garfunkel's "RIchard Cory" in theme), That Was Me (I get a kick out of picturing him during all the phases of his life he mentions during the song, and I enjoy the vague references to the Beatles), and Only Mama Knows. Some songs sound like he's getting his Wings sound back, and in "Gratitude" you can catch a hint of the later Beatle days (ala Got to Get You Into My Life, etc where his voice is really tested).

The multitracking they mention in the review is something Paul has been doing for years. Much of his later Beatles work while the band was arguing and not getting along was done with him playing all the instruments and multitracking his own voice.

Overall I think this is an enjoyable album and definitely more of a hit than a miss. Pop in the disk and crank it up because Paulie's still got it!

Free Music Review: The return of genius
Hit: 5 Stars

Paul McCartney is a musical genius and we all know it by now. Memory Almost Full certainly must confirm it for those few doubters left. This is a solid cd from beginning to end, the best work he's done since Flaming Pie. I've been a Beatles/McCartney fan all my life and even though I qualify Lennon & McCartney as genius, there have been times they've let me down. Not so with Memory Almost Full. I especially enjoyed the opening two songs "Dance Tonight & Ever Present Past." I was also please with "Mr. Bellamy", a song that reminds me so much of "Eleanor Rigby" and "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey." A great throwback. As I said, all of the music is solid and worth listening to. "The End of the End" was a very pleasant surprise. It seems Sir Paulie is feeling his age and planning for the hereafter. Good for him. I was pleased to see he has a very positive attitude about it. But then, having lived the life hae has; seeing the world, adored by millions, money to do as he pleased, family who loves him, yeah that's a full life. But I doubt he's done yet. This man is so creative that I'm sure he'll stil be producing beautiful music in the years to come. I hope so at least. It's still so amazing to me that God could create two talents like Lennon and McCartney, then throw them together. We are all the better for it. Keep rockin' Paulie. We'll be listening.
