Free Music Notes for Memory Almost FullFree Music Review: Creative and satisfying last piece from Paul Hit: 5 Stars
I really believe this album is maybe the last full studio album of Paul's. He seems to sum up his life in each song, trying to use a bit of everything he's done before. But his creativeness still shines on. The song See Your Sunshine is very soulful, and almost a smooth R&B hit. Dance Tonight still shows that simplicity can also be full. And You Tell Me still shows Paul's sensitive and acoustic side.
It has the playful melodies that we've come to expect Paul to write. It seems as though he wants to sum up his life for everyone to hear about, and he does it with great lyrics and melodies. It's more enjoyable that Chaos and Creation in the Backyard, but it's not as warm and polished. But other than that, it's one of Paul's most creative work. I recommend this to everyone.
Free Music Review: Too many notes, Y'all? Hit: 5 Stars
When I read the pompous pontificators carping away, I'm reminded of the King's comment in Amadeus regarding Mozart's work: "...yes...that's it...too many notes..."
Sit down, shut up, listen, or leave the theatre. McCartney, and this album, will outlive you. He's working levels here beyond most regular folks, and I wouldn't presume to second guess the genius he lands, in person or in the studio. And anyone he chooses to emulate or give a nod to or pay an homage is probably deliberate, and perhaps unavoidable, since he tilled their beds. Not that I don't get the idea of complaining - some of the leaves in my garden are not green enough. Darn. But I still enjoy the miracle, and it's beyond my fathom.
And this album was a blessing for my 50th. Thanks, Paul.
Free Music Review: so good, I want more! Hit: 5 Stars
I can't believe Paul McCartney is still releasing really good power pop. All these years later, and he doesn't seem to show *any* signs of stopping! What's more amazing is that the man is going into his mid 60's- he seems to have an unlimited amount of creative power. For years he's been making pop/rock music that's instantly enjoyable because he has a talent for making it SO melodic and always sounding so fresh, and this album continues that trend. You really need to hear some of the songs from Memory Almost Full to hear a man that's focused and ready for more. The pop songs are poppy, and the rock songs rock. Just like it's always been. No, his memory is NOT almost full- there's a lot more left in his tank.
Free Music Review: To those whose taste is solely in their mouths... Hit: 5 Stars
This review will be short, to the point, and you can make of it what you will. Reading the negative reviews of this, the finest release by Sir Paul as a solo artist (sans Wings), it pains me greatly to say I'm glad the Beatles never reunited! We all know that there would be those crouching in the shadows, sharpening their claws waiting to eviscerate anything the four lads produced. I will admit to a bit of puzzlement as to the first single release "Dance Tonight", being the weakest track on the disc. Other than that piddling complaint, I found myself constantly surprised and energized by the jump, the electricity, the freshness conjured song after song. Ignore the naysayers and give this a listen yourself.
Free Music Review: Not necessarily dance tonight, but definitely a lovely record! Hit: 5 Stars
MOF is a very dignified return of Paul on the scene. It took me quite some time to listen to a record of Paul as a whole, without choosing 2 of 3 songs. That is a major achievement and I feel Paul has delivered a great record (was "Gratitude" needed on this? I wonder). Mr. Bellamy is Paul at his best. And House of Wax captures Paul's melancholy as very few songs can. I do not think these songs will have any airplay... pity! But Paul still rocks: Only Mama Knows brought back the memories of Rock Show, from Venus and Mars back in 1975. And the spirit of Red Rose Speedway is there and much more.
It is good to have you back, Paul!
