Free Music Notes for Amoeba's SecretFree Music Review: It's no secret that Paul is awesome! Hit: 4 Stars
Though a bit pricey for such a small release, and for tracks that weren't recorded at the highest of quality; Amoeba's Secret is a satisfying purchase.
A side of McCartney that you rarely hear recorded is his current live singing voice. With no time to do multiple takes, or add sound sweetening to his vocal track, Amoeba's Secret showcases McCartney's very evidently 66 year old pipes. But that's a good thing.
The way he grinds through the sweetly heavy "Only Momma Knows" shows that his voice just adds a dynamic shift to the now familiar track. Which I think is better here than on Memory Almost Full.
The version of C Moon here acknowledges is reggae/rasta roots, and is a fun filler.
His version of That Was Me is a bit washy, with his singing slipping from here to there, but still bearable. The low point on the EP.
And finally, the old Beatles standard, I Saw Her Standing There finishes the disc. Which is there to remind us that Paul was a Beatle, and he can still sing as high or low as he wants to. It's rough, it's rowdy, it's as this song should be performed. Slightly solo heavy in this modern version, but a real treat in new treatment of an old classic.
Buy this if you must own all of what Macca releases. Skip it if you could put the eight dollars toward purchasing a copy of Band On The Run, which, if you haven't already obtained, shame on you.

Free Music Review: One of Macca's better recent live efforts Hit: 4 Stars
My first exposure to Paul and the Beatles was in 1965 at age of five when I saw "Help" and "Bambi" in a double feature with my mother. So you could say I've been a fan of Macca all my life. I own every Beatles album, on CD and most on either LP or even prerecorded cassette. As for Paul's stuff I have most of it. His best live collection is the "Concerts for Kampuchea," (unfortunately out of print) followed by "Wings Over America." The problem with his most recent efforts has been the fact that Paul's pipes are aging and in the long form concert it can be heard. Paul Simon and Roger Daltrey have the same issue.
However, this micro collection (only four songs) doesn't have that problem. Paul is in fine voice, the arrangements are tight, fast and fun. The disc dispenses with any onstage chatter and most of the crowd noise. I understand the concert itself was somewhat longer, I wish a few more could have been included, but the four here are worth a listen.
The packaging looks like a bootleg, including the pixilated cover picture and the "pasted on" labels on the disc. I wish they had included some liner notes, at least the names of the other musicians and the date of the performance.
Overall, a fun, but not really essential McCartney disc.
One caveat, shop around the price of this CD is all over the place. Why pay more than you need to?
Free Music Review: A rockin' little number Hit: 4 Stars
How does he keep doing it? Sir Paul brings down the house with classics new and old. Even "C Moon," which he clearly harbors a fancy for but I can do without, gets a nice reggae reworking. "That Was Me" is a killer. The voice isn't as strong after all these years, what do you expect? But Macca continues to amaze.

Good live set from Macca. Voice is pretty strong. Advice: if you're interested, buy the MP3 since the CD arrives in a cardboard sleeve without any set details.
