Free Music Review: Paul Potts new album One Chance

My daughter convinced me to start an Amazon wish list, which I did. The Paul Potts C.D., One Chance, was one of my selections, which my daughter promptly sent me as a gift. I have played it several times a day since its arrival. My most favorite piece of all time is Nessun Dorma which is the very first selection on this album and I am not disappointed in Mr. Potts' rendition. I saw him on Britains Got Talent and have been a fan ever since. What a wonderful voice, I am so pleased at his success and with this album. It may not be as perfect and polished as some other albums I have but it is his story and the beauty, power and emotion that I can hear and feel in his singing that truly affects me. Between this and Susan Boyles album I have a day filled with music that touches my heart and fills my soul. How greatful I am to the people who discovered them and made their talents available to all of us. I just hope that the commercializing of them doesn't ruin their natural abilities, doesn't restrict or restrain that raw power and emotion that was there the first time I heard them both sing.
I simply love this album and am looking forward to more.

I accidentally ran into Paul Pott's audition piece "Nessun Dorma" in youtube today and I was just blown away. I really didn't care for his job (which I later learned was a phone salesman). Most of his detractors lend his success from his "rags to riches" story which millions find adorable. I disagree. He certainly has the voice; a kind of raw talent that will improve in years to come. However, that is not his crowd draw. There is something about his singing that reaches into your soul; a visceral experience that I haven't heard even from Pavarotti himself (and I have heard tenors all my life). I find it embarassing that I was actually moved to tears when I heard him sing. There is a human quality in his voice, something that is absent in technically skilled tenors; he shows you that it's okay not to be perfect; that imperfection can sometimes be a good thing. His tracks are easy to listen to and his high notes are right on pitch. He is a lighter tenor than Luciano Pavarotti or Placido Domingo, but he renders his belt notes with the ease of a pro. He truly is a diamond in the rough; a breath of fresh air in a world of noise disguised as music.Free Music Review: Love It!

I stumbled on Paul Potts quite by accident, someone told me about the contest he won and I watched the videos. Like so many others, obviously so many, I was interested in his story and watched the little videos over and over. So I decided to try the CD. I am not trained in opera and so will not make a judgment pretending that I am. What I have found is a refreshing new voice, attached to a humble human being. This is not some arrogant tenor trained for years and years who happens to have an easily recognizable name. Paul Potts has incredible talent and a delightful voice. I wish him all the best. This music is easy to listen to, makes nice background music or nice "blasting" music, depending on your mood. My only negative comment (which means nothing overall) is that he sings a couple pop tunes("My Way", being one)- could have done without that. I have read other reviews where Paul was judged harshly by some thinking they were not hearing "real" opera. To those I say, "So what?" His story is part of his appeal, his voice is wonderful, and if he makes another CD, I'll probably get that one too!Free Music Review: Talented and Amazing

The first time I heard of Paul Potts was on one of Yahoo's featured stories. It was a video on YouTube showing him singing Nessun Dorma on Britain's Got Talent. He brought tears to the eyes of many in the audience and one of the judges, and Simon Cowell praised him about as highly as I have ever seen him praise anyone. One thing I have learned, if Simon Cowell says you are good, then you are!
Even if you don't like opera, you will like this CD. There is something about his demeanor and about the way he sings that makes you want to listen to him over and over. Everybody Hurts is my favorite song and I would have bought it just for that, though I wasn't familiar with the song before I bought this CD.
As Simon Cowell said, there is something about him that makes you want him to do well. For sure, he has done well, and we would never have heard of him had it not been for Britain's Got Talent. There are so many untalented singers out there (so-called celebrities) that it is good to see an ordinary guy get the big break that he deserves. Finally, some justice in the world!

Usually people love to jump on the band wagon at the first opportunity these days and negatively criticize amateur performers and their attempts to enter the music world, without remembering how the listener honestly feels inside with the end results. Hands up all those who didn't develop tears during at least three if not all of the tracks heard on Paul Potts "One Chance" album. After all this is the soul reason for music to be heard.......emotion. Those who complied with a positive action to this last statement please read something else. It is obvious to all that despite his moving life story, the pure heart rendering passion and colour that his voice imparts to his listeners on this album is an item worthy of no negative judgments whatsoever by anyone. Here we have a British man giving his perfect Italian language and accented renditions of famous music known to most to a level beyond belief.Others who have sent their opinions describe it all so true with statements of "Goosebumps" and "hair on the neck".....well done Paul, we can't wait for your tour on this side of the ocean.
