Free Music Review: Live Rhymin' Simon

This was the first concert album of Paul Simon's that I ever received and heard. According to a biography I have of Simon & Garfunkel, this was his debut solo concert tour, which was performed in both the USA and Europe. His solo songs, including the ones with the South American group, Urubamba, were the most superb. As for the Jessy Dixon Singers, they were just okay. I think they sang, "I will ease your mind" too much on "Bridge Over Troubled Water", so the song ended up lasting 7 to 8 minutes. The only song they definitely performed well with Paul was, "Loves Me Like A Rock". (Same thing on the "Paul Simon Special".) Urubamba's music was awesome. I liked the pipe solos they played on the "The Boxer" (as well as on "El Condor Pasa", and "Duncan"). They were much better than the original "lie-la-lie"s. I didn't know at the time that "Homeward Bound", "El Condor Pasa", "The Boxer", "The Sounds Of Silence", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", and "America" were Simon & Garfunkel songs. (I collected all of Paul's solo albums before I collected the S & G ones, and Art's solo ones.) At the end of the album, I thought it was kind of funny when someone in the audience called out to Paul, "Say a few words!" If I were Paul, I would've said, "Thank you for coming." The album was outstanding, definitely a Platinum Disc winner. I admit that I wish that all the pictures of the concert tour from the original LP album were on the C.D., but at least it has my favorite one on the front. This was his greatest concert album. Its definitely a collective album.
