Free Music Notes for Cream Ibiza: Mixed By Paul Van DykFree Music Review: Cream Ibiza by PVD Hit: 3 Stars
This CD is OK I would rate it a 3 people just remember this is not Paul Van Dyk Music he just only remixed it for the music of Cream Ibiza. This is very different from In Between, and Global and Politics of Dancing. This CD is a little between TECHNO, HOUSE and TRANCE he did added the music elements to NEW YORK CITY and LET GO.
PVD took a great risk by making this CD since his music is TRANCE but it was a risk that was well worth it. Is shows his fans that he is very versitle mixing different platforms of music. To me this is a show of his real talents when I get tired of 4x4 beats I just play this.
There is no doubt the PVD is the top international DJ right now but I would like for him to put an album together with some hip hop artists, I believe that he can take his music to another level.
Better yet the only challenge that I would have for him right now is to get together with NEW AGE ARTIST YANNI and SINGER ENYA to lend him their tracks to remix I know that he can do it and it is time for PVD to branch out to different elements of MUSIC.
Free Music Review: 1 out of 2 isn't bad Hit: 3 Stars
I have to agree that the 1st cd in this compilation doesn't go anywhere. But in PVD's defense I think he is trying to capture the feel of one his live sets in Ibiza. And he usually starts the night with the music that is on CD 1. He has to appease the audience that really can't listen to an entire night of just trance. However, Disc 2 tracks are what you would hear at the peaks hours of Ibiza and any night club PVD is DJing at. Though he does play the extend versions of most of these songs when he does perform live. Song to download the full version is Super8 and Tab - Elektra.
Free Music Review: A Partial Disappointment From PVD! Hit: 3 Stars
Disk one has several tracks on it that I would not consider trance. I am not sure how to classify them but maybe more of a house or techno style. Disk two saves this two disc set with the traditional trance music we have come to expect of PVD.
Free Music Review: PVD - Cream Ibiza Hit: 2 Stars
I know, I know. Two stars? For a Paul van Dyk album? Really? But he's one of theeee premier DJ's...
Let me say that I am definitely not an expert in the genre of trance/ dance/ electronica, though I do enjoy it.
I loved Paul van Dyk's two albums "Reflections" and "In Between". And I still listen to them both to this day - they've aged very well, which is difficult in the genre. I would say that if you are expecting something along the lines of "Reflections" or "In Between" on this Cream Ibiza set, you will be sorely disappointed.
The album is much, much harder and darker than those albums. The first disc is more House music. House can be good, but this first disc sounds really dated, and cheesey at times. Disc two was a little bit better.
Unfortunately, Cream Ibiza never reached "epic trance" status for me. Parts of it made me seriously question if this is the new direction that PvD is heading, them I'm very saddened. I know it's sacrilegious to only give a PvD album two stars, but sadly, that's all I can give it.
