Free Music Review: Great Live Album From A Great Band
Hit: 5 Stars

This Pearl Jam live album was recorded during the Yield tour in 1998. At the time like everyone else I was disappointed by the setlist because it didn't have some of their bigger hits (Animal, Jeremy, etc) Years later I have stopped lamenting what should have been on here and focus on the great songs that are on here.

1. Corduroy. Great song from Vitalogy. Starts this live album off right.

2. Given to Fly. My favorite of all Pearl Jam songs. Taken from the Yield album this live version soars and gives me chills. Amazing song.

3. Hail Hail. Great fast paced rock song taken from No Code.

4. Daughter. An acoustic driven song that has a special addition part added on while played live. Taken from Vs.

5. Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town. Another acoustic song taken from Vs. One of the better tunes to sing along too.

6. Untitled. This song is not from an album and can be considered as the intro to MFC.

7. MFC. Good midpaced rocker taken from the Yield album.

8. Go. This is a really fast punkish song taken from Vs. One of my favorites.

9. Red Mosquito. Great opening guitar and really good song from the No Code album.

10. Evenflow. Hit song from Ten. The guitar interplay and solos are wonderful.

11. Off He Goes. Great acoustic song from No Code.

12. Nothingman. Another acoustic singalong from Vitalogy.

13. Do the Evolution. Fast paced punk rocker that really scorches. Taken from Yield.

14. Betterman. Big hit off of Vitalogy. Starts slow and acoustic before they crank up the amps.

15. Black. Perhaps the greatest version ever recorded. Taken from Ten.

16. F*ckin Up. Neil Young cover. Great album closer.

This is a realy good CD to start your Pearl Jam collection. I reccomend getting all of their albums. They have made 2 studio albums since this tour to hear those songs live I reccomend you get any of their official live bootlegs. Pearl Jam are a great band and they really are one of the best live bands ever.

Free Music Review: Pearl Jam's 1st Live Album DELIVERS!!
Hit: 5 Stars

Coming out in '98 in support of their "YIELD" tour, PJ's first live album is a truly fantastic collection of songs from their first five albums. When listening to it, it's hard to believe that it's live, because it sounds SO GOOD! I am usually not a real big fan of live albums, but when it comes to my all-time favorite band, I can make an exception. If you like the hard, rawer sound of Pearl Jam that they showcased from "VS" on, then you will love this album. With classics like "Daughter", "Even Flow", "Do The Evolution", "Better Man", and "Black", this awesome live album should be in any fans collection. Being that "Black" is one of my all-time favorite songs from PJ, I was interested to hear the live version, and once I heard it I was surprised that it holds up to the unbelievable studio version in every sense. Just listening to it for the first time in several months, it actually brought a tear to my eye- it's that powerful. You will also find "Untitled" right after "Daughter". I don't know if it's original PJ material or just a cover, but it sounds like the makings of a cool little song. Ending this fun set is a Neil Young cover of "F*ckin' Up". If there was ever a band who covers Young the best, it's PJ- it's right up their alley. Over all, I think this is one of the BEST Live albums of all time (I've heard a large amount) and a MUST HAVE for any PJ fan. However, one MIGHT argue that with the release of hundreds of live bootlegs from '00 to '03, this collection may seem unnessesary. But I on the other hand find it all the more enticing for the over-all better quality of the sound and packaging. Not to mention, with all the live bootlegs out there, this one sits by itself and is truly unique. An excellent showcase of PJ's early material. If you are like me and are not crazy over Live albums, give this one a try- you might be pleasantly surprised.

Free Music Review: THE Pearl Jam Live Album (4.5 STARS)
Hit: 5 Stars

Pearl Jam has not, as of yet (2001) released a greatest hits album. When they do, it will possibly revive a lot of past feelings about the quintet that used to be the world's most popular band. Even so, many followers of Seattle's finest will find "Live on Two Legs" the closest thing, covering material from the band's first five studio albums and a couple surprises.

After the record breaking extrication of 40+ live albums from the "Binaural" tours, THIS will probably be the live album that most PJ fans will reach for first after the dust has settled. "Corduroy," a Vitalogy track that got mild radio play back in the mid-ninties sounds new, fresh, and kicks off the amazing set. "Given to Fly," "MFC," and "Evolution" are from the band's most recent release (at the time) "Yield," but the spotlight is shared equally with all of their album's, showing the band's confidence in itself throughout their full career, even though the radio has played more from some of their albums than others. Some "Untold Hero" Songs like "Hail, Hail" and "Go" wow the long-time fans, while the band plays some better known tunes, too; "Even Flow," "Daughter," and "Better Man." The band shifts from rockers ("Evolution" and "Red Mosquito") to a very impressive softer, acoustic-based set ("Elderly Woman," "Off He Goes," and "Black.") "Live on Two Legs" shows one of the finest bands of this generation covering ALL of their facets, while flaunting Vedder's classic mumbling-to-screams vocals to Mike McCready's blistering riffs and solos. This band had it all.... And so does their best live album.

Free Music Review: This Album is a Keeper!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

How can I say it without sounding chiche? I can't. This album ROCKS!!!! I don't know what else to say but that this is one of the best albums I've ever discovered. I acutally found it really really difficult to get a hold of a copy of it. Of course, I discovered it at a gift store I used to work at, and again, I found another love - On Two Legs. I tried going through small CD stores and ordering it, and I got nothin, I tried going online, and for some reason, I found nothing (I had no idea Amazon sells it). And then one day, when I was brousing a CD store with my boyfriend in Simi Valley (hundreds of miles from where I live)there it was. The only copy. And it was only 13 bucks!! I was stoked. I'm telling you, this album is so kick ass. I am not excited about, maybe, 2 songs on the whole album. The rest get me pumped and give me chills because Eddie is such a passionate and original performer and singer. Never does this album get dull. In fact, I always liked Pearl Jam before I discovered this, but I became a fan for eternity because of it. It has alot of the great songs ( missing Yellow Ledbetter, damnit) and they are in a good order - it flows well. Alot of the songs have extra little endings because all the songs are from various live shows. I love his virson of that Neil Young song (I'm drawing a blank of its name) at the end of "Daughter". I could go on for hours, really. Eddie is just such an awesome inspirtation in so many ways. So if you like Pearl Jam's sound, you'll LOVE it after listening to this album all the way through. Oh yeah, AWESOME versons of "Black" and "Betterman" on here. Do your self a favor - pick it up!

Free Music Review: Live on Two Legs is the best live album ever.
Hit: 5 Stars

Pearl Jam's "Live on Two Legs" is the best live album I have ever listened to. Eddie Vedder, despite of the exausting 1998 tour, could maintain his singing to a level that no other singers could. Matt Cameron, PJ's "new" drummer, is one of the best drummers I have seen. Jeff, Stone, and Mike were unbelievable as well. "Even Flow"'s version for this album is the best one they've ever played. "Hail Hail" was also excellent, like "Corduroy" and "Daughter". "Nothingman", "Elderly Woman..." and "Off he Goes" were beautiful, Eddie was great. The passage from Untitled to MFC is very suitable. "Given to Fly", "Go", "Red Mosquito", "Do the Evolution" and "Black" had outstanding guitar playing by Stone and Mike. Neil Young's "Fuckin'Up" is a great song and fits Pearl Jam just perfectly. "Better Man" was a first class performance by all members of the band. It is very unfair with Pearl Jam to say that this album did not have a good song collection. All the songs in it are great and it is very hard for a band like Pearl Jam to choose the songs that are going to be in a live album, as they would have so many choices. For me, the picks were right and the album is a success. It is the best CD I have, along with "Ten Extra Tracks".
