Free Music Notes for Live on Two LegsFree Music Review: Another triumph for the world's greatest little band Hit: 5 Stars
More is expected out of Pearl Jam and more is always delivered. Live is no exception for a band that has gotten better with each disc. This album showcases the boys operating on all cylinders. Just like their shows, you will never hear a bad song let alone a bad show. It is all about the music from the simple beginning of "Corduroy" to the touching sing along of "Better Man". They do not need pretentious video walls and taped music to compensate for a lack of new ideas(this is especially problematic of a certain Irish band). Thankfully, the improv session at the end of "Daughter" is reproduced. In fact, it is even more chilling here. My only regret is "Rearview Mirror" can not be found as that is a head pounding cathartic highlight. To those of us who have been lucky to see the banc(4 x in 3 years), this is a great reminder of just how good these show are. For those that missed them, this should serve as a reminder to send in your ten bucks to the fanclub so you can get first crack at ducats. We anxiously await the next studio disc from the most credible band on earth.
Free Music Review: Their best yet! Hit: 5 Stars
For all those PJ lovers out there, if you don't have this one yet, your making a BIG mistake. This is definetly the best one PJ has ever put out! The album has a variety of songs from all the albums; it is a collection of all the best! If i had my say, I would name this PJ's Greatest Hits! From BETTERMAN to OFF HE GOES, PJ shows their talent in the softer side of their music. But, lets not forget PJ's hardcore EVENFLOW and EVOLUTION which are also featured! Whether you like the hard or soft PJ rock, I guarantee this one's still for you! This album also has previously unreleased songs, like the UNTITLED song and one other bad named song that I probably shouldn't put the name of here! Some live albums show that the band has no real talent, but, even though this one is live, it just shows exactly how dynamic PJ really is!It's like having them right in the room with you. How many CD's can you say that about? To enjoy PJ's best album ever, all you have to do is purchase it, and I promise, you will be forever satisfied with it. I've had it over a year, and I still listen to it ALL THE TIME!
Free Music Review: Next best thing to being there Hit: 5 Stars
Pearl Jam has put out a great "new" record. I have had the fortune of seeing live on three different tours, and each time I see them they are just as good if not better than the last time I saw them. The song selection was great and one of the tracks was from a show I was at ("Elderly Woman" in West Palm Beach 9/23/98) It has a great mix of every album. It had three tracks from each album except "Ten," which only had two tracks from it ("Black and an amazing version of "Even Flow.") L2L turned me on to other songs from "No Code," such as Off he Goes and Red Mosquito. They are good songs in their own right, but when stacked up agains the rest of the PJ catalog, people might forget about them. The only disappointment is that Rockin in the Free World or Leaving Here were not included on this set, usual concert staples. I look forward to a new studio album from this great band. It has been the case with this band that their new body of work is just as good as the previous. Keep on rocking in the free world!!!
Free Music Review: Even better than a "Greatest Hits" Hit: 5 Stars
Artists with six studio albums to their credit have a lot of material in their catalogue. Pearl Jam could very easily have released a greatest hits package. Their popularity is still quite strong. They tour with consistent success. The survivors of the grunge wars instead released their first full-length live album. The songs are taken from several shows from both legs of their "Yield" tour. Drummer Matt Cameron had already replaced Jack Irons for this tour at a moments notice (2 days before the start of the tour). It did not seem to matter - the band is obviously at its best with him. The 16 songs on this disc run the full gamut of what we have come to expect from the Seattle rockers. From punk (Hail, Hail) to serenity (Off he goes, Nothingman) to anthems we have grown to love (Even Flow, Better Man), Pearl Jam has produced a collection of live gems. And the best part is - it sounds like one show, not a collection. This album is not just for fans. It is a document of greatness and continued success from one of the great bands of our time.
Free Music Review: The best band ever reminds us why they hold this title Hit: 5 Stars
For all of you out there who are dissapointed with this album because it doesn't have "Jeremy" and the other radio-played PJ songs, allow me to fill you in on a PJ secret: their best songs were never played on the radio. If you can't understand Ed then get the lyrics off the internet. You'll be amazed at how clever and intense they are. This album takes all these studio released songs and pumps in the live feeling that only PJ can produce. I was given the opportunity to see them this summer and now I have a CD that plays the songs with the intensity they did that night. The only song I really don't care for is "F*ckin' Up" and it's a Neil Young song anyway. Unbelievable versions of "Off he goes", "Hail, Hail", and "Cordoroy". Get this CD because its another opportunity to hear the greatest band ever play live. Real PJ fans feel they have only gotten better since "TEN", the band continues to change their sound and improve. Keep up the good work!!
