Free Music Notes for Live on Two LegsFree Music Review: LEAVES NO QUESTION HOW TALENTED THIS BAND IS Hit: 5 Stars
Oftentimes, the live record is not a solid representation of a band's greatest assets, UNLESS the band's name is Pearl Jam. While song of their best work is not included, the songs selected are given that extra zing when they're performed live. Enter the song "Do the Evolution". On their most recent release, "Yield", the song sounds quite restrained, whereas the listener gets the rawer feel on their live album. In addition to the hidden gems, there are the timeless Pearl Jam anthems like "Black", "Even Flow", "Nothingman", and "Given to Fly". As the band is reaching a crossroads in their career, this is one brilliant momento for long-time fans to hold onto from their favorite band, Pearl Jam. While the live album usually leaves much more to be desired, Live on Two Legs is the exception to the rule.
Free Music Review: It's about time!!! Thanks PJ Hit: 5 Stars
I'd like to give thanks to Pearl Jam and their label who finally came up with the idea to release a live PJ album. I do agree with the other fans who say that the song selection for this CD isn't great (They could have put in "Jeremy" Won't Get Fooled Again" or "Yellow Ledbetter" on it. But other wise it's great. The versions of "Hail,Hail", "Nothingman" and "MFC" are mind blowing. I love all of the concert posters on the inside cover. The only dissapointment that i have with this CD is the version of "Black", which is their most emotional song, isn't sung with much emotion. 1998 has been the year of Pearl Jam. They released 2 great albums, a home video, and an amazing music video. I think these guys are the greatest band, and I hope that after all of this they will still be a great band.
Free Music Review: Overproduced? Maybe, but a LIVE PJ is a BREATH of fresh air Hit: 5 Stars
After becoming a Pearl Jam fanatic since Yield's release earlier this year, I've slowly been introduced to all their standard releases (albums & singles) as well as a few bootlegs. This album won't cure the blues for PJ nuts who MUST have everything they've ever released but it WILL give many of us who missed the '98 tour a taste of what our friends have been bragging about. It should have been a double CD - but at 71+ minutes it just about is (most PJ albums are 45-50 min.) The setlist is just about perfect...only really big songs not included would be Jeremy and Alive. Of course all true Jammers want their fave oddities on L2L but Untitled, Elderly Woman, and Neil's F*ckin' Up are a pretty good trio...I think the pacing of the album and the choices to include great but less known songs (Corduroy, Hail, Hail) are its strengths. Keep on Jammin'!!
Free Music Review: PJ is simply the best! Hit: 5 Stars
Eddie and the boys tear it up on this album. The only thing that really bothered me was the drum work by Matt Cameron. Come on can anyone hear that he plays "Given to Fly", "Daughter", and "Evenflow" totally different. Different can be good, but I think it sounded like he just winged it. I really recommend this album though and make sure you listen to "Off He Goes" tons of times because it doesn't get any better than this. The ending of "Daughter" is so awesome, Eddie's voice just captures your heart and soul. And for all the people who thought they left songs out don't forget about bootlegs. There's also alot of of cool live stuff out there. You just have to take the time and spend some money to get them! Jack Irons please come back!
Free Music Review: Great album, great band Hit: 5 Stars
"Live on Two Legs" is a great album for everyone, and especially for die hard Pearl Jam fans such as myself. It contains classics like "Evenflow" and "Daughter" along with great renditions of newer stuff like "Off He Goes" and "M.F.C." Matt Cameron, who filled in for Jack Irons (drummer) on the tour, really livens up the drumming compared to the studio albums with Jack on tracks like "Hail Hail" and "Do the Evolution". If you were as lucky as I was to see Pearl Jam live on their latest tour, this album will bring back a lot of memories of how good they really sounded live. And if you weren't able to catch them, this album really captures the essence of this Seattle band's great live experience.
