Free Music Notes for Lost DogsFree Music Review: This does not feel like a rarities collection! Hit: 5 Stars
This album is a dream come true for die-hard Pearl Jam fans, mostly due to the pristine recordings of the previously unreleased material. The collection is a plus for casual fans on three counts.1. Songs like Yellow Ledbetter, Footsteps, Wash, and Hard To Imagine are very popular B-sides and soundtrack songs that will satisfy their craving for classic Pearl Jam within the collection of new stuff and rarities. 2. The order of tunes on here makes for a seamless collection that crosses Pearl Jam's history chronologically and stylistically. This album sounds like it could have been entirely recorded in the last year if one did not know all the songs. With some of the more unorthodox cuts, it plays like PJ's equivalent to "The White Album." 3. The insight provided by band members is fantastic and adds to the experience. I do miss Leatherman and Crazy Mary, and maybe State of Love and Trust and Breath, but those two songs fit well within the Singles soundtrack, and there is plenty of good music on that CD to merit its purchase. Overall, Lost Dogs is excellent for all rock music lovers that can look past Pearl Jam's first three albums.
Free Music Review: Simply Amazing!! Pearl Jam Brings Delivers!! Hit: 5 Stars
All I can say is WOW! As I listened to this album I realized that Pearl Jam has to seriously be the most under rated, most under appreciated band in rock music today. With incredible guitar riffs and brilliant vocals, Vedder and the boys made this collection of B-sides and leftovers just as much, if not more valuable than any Pearl Jam album. Overall, I would have to say that 24 out of 31 songs are great, and some of them might even rank with the best Pearl Jam songs. Highlights from the B-sides are Footsteps, Wash, Down, and of course Yellow Ledbetter. Highlights from the leftover songs would be Otherside, fatal, Hold On, and Strangest Tribe (might be four of the best Pearl Jam songs ever!). Watch out for the random appearance of a surf-rock song, Gremmie out of Control (just wierd). There are some great songs missing from this great collection however. Where's Crazy Mary, State of Love and Trust, and Sonic Reducer? Anyway, Lost Dogs would make a great addition to any die hard Pearl Jam fan's collection as well a great listen to new Pearl Jam fans and rock fans in general. Pearl Jam simply rocks! Now all we need is a greatest hits album.
Free Music Review: Pearl Jam is not Grunge. Hit: 5 Stars
Pearl Jam, while the best rock band that ever existed, is not now nor have they ever been Grunge. Just because Eddie wore long untamed hair and a flannel shirt, and just because they came out of Seattle in the early 90's does not mean they were Grunge. Grunge was a specific genre of music that was unique to Nirvana (the best grunge band that ever existed). There is no point in comparing Pearl Jam and Nirvana. Its quite like comparing apple and oranges, literally. That said, this collection is awesome! I am a die hard Pearl Jam fan and I have been for 12 years. I thought there was nothing by them that I had not heard. I was wrong. I would say that about half of the songs on this collection are songs that I never even heard of before. Most are awesome, some are ok, but over all I would still give it 5 stars. I think though, this is a collection for the die hard fan. If you are a casual fan of the band, and only really like Ten and VS, then you'll probably get nothing special out of this, but I love it. I think that it is wonderful. If you love Pearl Jam, this collection of rarities and b-sides is a must have!!
Free Music Review: Lost and found! Hit: 5 Stars
This double album sprawls with b-sides that wouldn't fit on albums, but are A-side quality. Disc one has all the rockers, standouts being "Sad", "Down", "Gremmie Out Of Control", and of course who could not forget the concert essential "Yellow Ledbetter!".Disc two has the ballads on it. Beginning with a slow-burner "Fatal", this disc features better songs than disc one in my opinion. These are classics that shouldn't be overlooked by all PJ lovers, "Hard To Imagine" is the song that makes this collection essential. "Footsteps", "Let Me Sleep", and "Dead Man" are all amazing ballads that would understandibly not fit on the albums All of these songs were left off the albums most likely because they didn't fit in with the mood, and it's true, never have Pearl Jam sounded so upbeat, and funny even! on songs here, and also, never have they been so emotional as they are on the ballads here. If I could pick an album to truly define Pearl Jam, Lost Dogs would be the one that shows what the band is all about.
Free Music Review: great great album even for the casual fan Hit: 5 Stars
Ok first of all i only started listening to Pearl Jam since a couple of months ago so I am sorta just a casual fan. I only have Ten as PJ's other album, yeah i know shame, shame. ANyway I decided to pick this album up because of the beautiful beautiful Yellow Ledbetter song I heard on the radio recently. After listening to both cds all i have to save is WOW. This album is really amazing from beginning to end with only a couple of excepttions of some weird songs. I asked myself whoa if this is only their b-sides and rarities then their other official albums must be total bliss and I bet they are =). On CD 1 it seems that the songs are more rocking and energetic than the second one. Magnificent highlights include sad, down, undone, and of course the legendary yellow ledbetter. On CD 2 PJ is more relaxed and mellow with quieter and smoother songs. My personal favorites on this are fatal, footsteps, last kiss, and the instrumental song near the end. ALl in all I really think this is a magnificent album and that u should definitely pick this up even if ur not a hardcore pj fan =).
