Free Music Review: Interesting fusion of blending in this album release
Hit: 4 Stars

Leaving aside the 'messages' within the songs, I simply enjoyed the songs and I definitely did not hear anything wrong with the song 'Daughter'. This is another of a Pearl Jam album that the band experimented with fusing grunge with pure rock beats and they did it well. Yes some of the lyrics has a bit to be desired for however you can't expect the lyrics to be 100% right in every darn record.

I'm a discerning fan however some fans expect too much or way over expectation. Just enjoy the music dont look for faults or you will find many of them. This album should just be enjoyed for the entertainment value it was brought out for.

The pick of the album songs that I most enjoyed from this album were; 'Glorified', 'Blood' and 'Leash'.

Free Music Review: Different sound from debut, but totally rocks!
Hit: 4 Stars

When I first heard this album, I hated it and was very disappointed, because I was expecting another "Ten". But having loved their debut so much, I kept giving this one a try over and over untill it finally grew on me. It took a while, but once I had accepted the fact that Pearl Jam decided to go with a completely different formula than on "Ten", and would probably never repeat "Ten", I really began to love this album for what it is: A fantastic, straight ahead rocker. It is easily Pearl Jam's most aggressive and rawest sounding album. You really can't just "listen" to "VS" and not have it affect you in some way. After finally getting it for the first time, I realized just how special it really was. It got to the point that I liked it almost as much as "Ten". If you're looking for polished hit after hit, you listen to "Ten". But if you're looking for a more raw, live sound(which is what they are best at), you listen to "VS". I remember back in the summer of '94, while anxiously waiting for "Vitalogy" to come out, I listened to "VS" 24-7 and have since come to love it.I really got into the "feel" they were shooting for here, and I think most rock fans do too, once they give it a chance. Some real fast and hard tracks, a few really good mellow tracks, a couple quirkey sounding tracks but still good in their own right. Also contains a fan-favorite and classic, "Rearviewmirror". Over all, a real good album once you give it a chance. Their most rawest and hardest album. Since all their albums besides "Ten" follow this rawer and harder sound, I highly recommend starting here. Then work your way up the list chronologically ("Vitalogy" being their weakest, but still good in it's own right). After all that, try "Ten" and hear them as they first started out. Light-years of difference, but hey, that's what makes Pearl Jam so interesting. That's what seperates them from everybody else. They make music the way THEY want it, not how the public may want it. They are truly their OWN band in every sense, and their second potent effort completely demonstrates that. "VS" is classic PJ and considered by many to be their best. And with such epic tracks as "Daughter", "Dissident", "Elderly Woman", and "Indifference", it's easy to see why.

Free Music Review: Have you no shame, Mr. Vedder?
Hit: 1 Stars

I'll admit it, back in the early days, I was a real big fan of Peal Jam. They rocked, and , more importantly, they stood up for those less fortunate than middle America. Than I head the song 'Daughter' and I learned that Eddie didn't have sympathy for at least one disadvantaged group in America: The mentally handicapped. On that track he cruelly and heartlessly mocks the vocal affectations of those with mental disabilities, just to get a cheap laugh. I'll admit it, his impression is dead on: he totally sounds like a 'tard. But is it really appropriate to mock the mentally handicapped, particularly when one is involved in so many fashionable, liberal causes? Well, no. The time for fratboy humor is over, Mr. Vedder.
