Free Music Review: Great soundtrack with a few minor flaws
Hit: 4 Stars

I purchased this soundtrack having never played this game, nor having even heard it, but based solely on my experience with David Clynick's work in Perfect Dark for the Nintendo 64, and I was not disappointed. The soundtrack, like that of the game's predecessor, is very dark and ominous, and serves as a perfect continuation of the original score. In fact, Clynick even reprises a few of his old melodies and chord progressions, all to great effect. I especially enjoyed the infusion of funk in the mix, which lends the score a most unique feel. Clynick is perhaps one of today's strongest and most versatile composers, and it is a shame that he only found his break in the relatively obscure genre of video game scores.
This soundtrack is not without flaw, however. This may be my opinion, but I cannot stand the first of the two tracks performed my Morisson Poe, 'Glitter Girl', as I feel it is such a digression from the sound of the score, and is generally an unpleasant song to begin with. Second, I suspect that this soundtrack is incomplete, containing only twenty-seven tracks, while the original Perfect Dark included close to fifty. Finally, I am annoyed by the brevity of the majority of these tracks. Many of them fade out, never resolving, exactly as the song is reaching its climax, leaving the listener feeling rather interrupted.
Overall, this soundtrack is great, but it could have been incredible if it had only been put together with a bit more thought.

Free Music Review: Good, but not up to expectations
Hit: 4 Stars

After Perfect Dark from Rare on the N64, I was expecting a much better soundtrack than what this is, however Rare did well anyway.
