Free Music Notes for One for AllFree Music Review: At last... Hit: 5 StarsI just listened to it. It's way better than his solo album of 1978. Like someone else said below, it's honest. And unlike some reviews here, I find the production tight and subtle. Yes, it is soft, but not too polished. Some of the guitar works and piano does really fit his voice. My favorites are "Doesn't get better than this", "Send in the clowns" and "Space Ace". Only "Hope" should've been left out of this album.
Free Music Review: Kittie Litter!! Hit: 1 Stars Lets be honest , Paul Stanley is ,was and forever will be the man in Kiss . Even Gene is but a bit player when it comes to talent in the legacy of Kiss as real writers because after the make-up years , he sucked . Ace and Peter both had moments of cool in the band , but when left to make a full album they would be left wanting. Although the first solo's by Ace and Peter were great (Ace) and good (Peter).
So what can I make of the Catmans newest piece . I could not even get through it. His voice cannot , I repeat handle a full album of slow numbers. It just is not that strong and the songwriting is at best , weak. There are two decent numbers here but that is it. Hopefully when he comes back with a rock album it will make up for this very poor outing.
Free Music Review: Better than you say it is Hit: 4 StarsI read some of the reviews that other customers have left for this cd. Are they listening to the same cd I am? Ok, it's not gonna be as good as a Kiss cd, or a Paul Stanley or Ace Frehley cd, because they rock. But put that aside for a moment and check it out as a Peter Criss cd. He doesn't make hard rock/heavy metal music on his own. So having said that Peter isn't a John Lennon or George Harrison, either. But this cd is very enjoyable. The standout tracks are 'Last Night', 'Send In The Clowns' and 'Whisper', all three are ballads. This is one that I will listen to years from now, which I still do to his 4 other solo cd's as well. Besides, it's more than the band he's associated with has done in 9 years.
Free Music Review: Heard Peter on Rockline. *Sounds Good* Hit: 5 StarsHeard Peter on Rockline and they previewed this album. I have since ordered myself a copy off of ebay as it appears that Best Buy are sold out of the autographed copys they were selling and I wanted an autographed copy. My parents are huge KISS fans so I have heard KISS all my life. Peter is my fav then I would say ACE. Even though Gene and Paul write and perform most of KISS music, I do like Peters songs and I really like his solo albums. I can't wait to get my copy in the mail. On the rockline interview Peter also said he has a CD of Swing music ready to put out. :) I hope this is true.
Free Music Review: I'm glad you don't like it! It's cool! Hit: 5 StarsThere are quite a few folks who don't like this album. To that I say, Good! Music these days stinks bad. It all sounds the same. It's all made cookie-cutter and it's freaking boring. Since there are some who will compare Peter's effort to Gene's and Paul's, I will only briefly. Paul writes the same tired, frayed tunes he always does. Gene, well, Gene is quite possibly the worst song writer to come down the pike since, well, me. :)
Peter wrote what he liked, sang the way he sings and released and album that is not something you will find anywhere else. You will know it's Peter Criss.
When I first heard the snipits, I was like, what the heck is that? But I waited. I don't want to get disappointed until I heard the whole thing.
When the CD arrived, I put it in the CD player and slapped on the headphones to give it an honest listen. After three listens I was hooked. Why? Because it's honest. It's real. It's not over produced like his last release was, like Stanley's or Simmon's. It's the real Peter Criss there, not a computer. That's why I like it.
I grew up in the 70's when stuff was real and there was no such thing as protools. So no matter if the pitch is perfect, or the lyrics don't meet your standards, it's from the heart, it's real and it's honest. Britney Spears could learn a thing or two here.
I haven't stopped listening to it. The songs stick in my head and I can't get them out. They're catchy tunes and quality tunes. I'm glad I bought this album. Peter captures an era here that has long since passed. I'm glad he did.
He's coming out with two more, so this is only the first. As I understand it, we'll here rock and swing! Can you imagine that? What we here from the others? The same old tired stuff. If you like that, it's cool, dude, but if you are looking for something different, catchy and a lot different, than this CD is worth the price. At the very least you know when you buy this CD you won't be buying a studio's version of a band. It's the real guy.
To Peter I say congratulations. You flip your bird at the nay-sayers and did it your way.
Thanks for reading. :)
