There are times when hear, read, see, experience something that changes us. This cd is one of those somethings. Everyone I have every played it for has loved it the same way. It contains that wowness that special "somethings" create. This is as close to an ancient greek shared experience that you can get today. It changes you. It changes the way that you look at the world. Ten years after buying my first copy, and I still get lost in the music every time I put it in the cd player. Breath taking ! I first heard the music when i watched the highly critical Scorcese film "Last Temptation of Christ" . I get goose bumps to this day everytime i hear this soundtrack . It is like an endless source of middle eastern emotions running through my speakers . Truly undescribeable !
Apart from Peter Gabriel and his mastermind compositions , you will find excelent musicians on this records including the great Billy Cobham on drums and percussions !
For those who do not have this ... get it now !

I absolutely love this CD--have owned the original version for many years...I'd only be repeating what so many others have already posted, so enough said on that.
What I can't seem to find, after scanning the first 50-75 reviews are any comments about the differences between the original and remastered versions. So, I would appreciate it if anyone could provide us with a comparative review.
Bottom line; is it worth it to buy the remastered version if one already has the original?

Listening to this cd, makes me feel like im in the desert with hot salty air tangling my hair and caressing my face. Peter Gabriel mixed Arabic and African sounds in this deeply emotional and moving compostion. Like other fans of it, i listen to it over and over again, track 1 is the most memorable, while the last one can literally make you cry.
Words cannot describe how wonderful this soundtrack is, but it makes me feel like im being lifted off this planet when i listen to it.

I own this cd for more than 10 years, and still, I love it, listen to it, and personaly, for me it is the best music to play in the background while painting. It inspires and opens long forgotten closed doors in mind.As for the subject of this cd, it seems as though the past happens close to you, around you. It feels like it is telling the story without demanding you to take part in it.
This masterpiece is the only one which I loved so much the book, the movie, and the music.
