Free Music Review: Catch them live before it's too late

Unfortunately, that was last weekend, and it was somewhat sad to see them. Peter Yarrow looks like the whole weight of 9/11 is on his shoulders. It's like he's saying that they've been singing this stuff about loving your neighbor for over forty years now, and has anybody paid attention to any of it? He's a visibly saddened person.

Also unfortunately, Mary is worse. She does joke very well about aging and forgetfulness, but like all good comedy, it's based on truth. Last weekend she muffed the words to at least half a dozen songs, two of which had to be started from the beginning. You can see the two guys helping to prop her up through the show, and the sadness they show as they realize it's getting to the end of the trail. If you are a fan of their's I wouldn't expect too many years of live performances.

Which takes nothing from this fine collection of songs. In a nutshell, it contains just about everything you'd ever want to hear from them. True, this is a "live" album, and not the original stuff. But then, this is folk music. You need acoustic guitars and voices, and that is all that is needed to carry it. With that, it's done well, and hearing childrens' voices over the choruses make some of the numbers even better. [....]
