This CD was published in 2003 and is a wonderful collection from three Folk Singers who entertained us and carried the message of relentless optimism,about,and love for,America and the pursuit of freedom,equality and justice it represents.
Peter,Paul and Mary were front and center in the Folk Music scene since the 50's in the coffee houses of Greenwich,Village in New York.They carried their message across America and around the world for 60 years;and their music continues today to be associated with any movement or cause involving America,freedom and justice anywhere in the world.Sadly,Mary passed away on September 16,2009.At their last perfoermance on May 20,2009 they sang their last song together in an Encore,which fittingly was, "This Land Is Your Land"
To answer my own qyestion in my title;"No,we are not likely to see the likes of this trio again".At least we have their recordings to remind us of how much their music meant to us and whether you are a long time fan of PP&M or someone who is just finding out about them;this CD will certainly fill the bill in showing why they were probably the greatest and most loved Folk Music trio for decades.
This CD comes with an insert having all the words of the lyrics of the songs and the songwriters who wrote them.

Is it possible after so many years of performance and recording that it is still possible to produce fresh and lasting material? In the case of "In These Times" PP&M have proven that with experience and with living comes true wisdom. There is material on this CD that deserves to join all of the other songs for which this group is so rightfully famous. Listen to "Some Walls," "It's Magic," "Oh, Had I a Golden Thread" and most importantly, "Don't Laugh at Me" and hear for yourself. I bought this CD out of loyalty and admiration for these three extraordinary human beings. But I listen to it over and over out of the sheer joy of listening to people who understand and communicate the magic that it is possible in human life. I have been a fan of Peter Paul And Mary for 12 years now. I never knew that they could still be talentend even today 43 years later. On this album the song "Don't Laugh At Me" speaks directly to the subject on respect, teaches people not to make fun of people's race or what they where on their teeth such as braces to make their teeth get stronger. I basicly like all the selections They believe in JUSTICE,PEACE, AND DIGNITY of every person. I strongly urge all people who visit this website to ORDER this album today. My parents introduced me to these artists when I was young and I still love the music they dish out. By far, my favorite song on this album is "Some Walls" but I like all the songs. Nice to know that somethings never change. Their quality and musicianship are as excelelent as ever. Too bad that other things never change. The fact that protest songs are still being written for our present society injustices just go to prove that there truly is nothing new under the sun!
