I received this album from my English teacher as a graduation present. I was in an overseas boarding school then which involved many emotions since I was away from home. This album always calm me down no matter how I was feeling, whether I was sad or angry or even lonely. Even my brother who hardly touched my CDs secretly listened to it and even got himself a copy. I'm glad I had the chance to listen to it. It's definitely worth it to get this CD!Free Music Review: Haunting

Having family from County Donegal in County Ulster, Ireland, and loving Phil Coulter, there could be no better album for me than this one. They grew up just a short walk from where the flight of the Earls took place. The haunting stories behind the lyrics and the way the melodies remind me of that beautiful, though forbidding lake. I will treasure this album always. It is one of the very best to help me remember my ancestors home.

Phil Coulter has really topped himself this time. Lough Swilly is a beautiful area of Donegal and his songs reflect it. All U.S. Navy veterans will recognize track 7 [For those in peril on the sea] as the Navy Hymn, but Coulter dedicates it to his brother who was lost on the Lough in an accident. One great album. I sent "Lake Of Shadows" to our son while in Iraq and he said this album was the one he listened to at the end of a day that was particularly unpleasant and it calmed him like nothing else. First time through this CD, I wasn't terribly fond of some of the selections. But after three listens, it has become another one of my Coulter favorites.
If they played music like this on the radio, I might consider returning to listening to commercial radio.
