"Meddle" is THE album. "Dark Side of the Moon" was influenced by this masterpiece, which means that anyone who appreciates the "prism" should also hear the "ear". (the cover) "Echoes." Only Pink Floyd could invent a piece of improvisational brilliance that resonates with the listener every time it is played. I wonder if Floyd were even consciously aware of how "unconscious" the music was they were stumbling across at this time. The other songs on this disc are great in themselves, reflecting Floyd's experience with movie soundtracks such as "More" and "Obscured By Clouds", with "One Of These Days" particularly standing out as a malicious highlight.
"Echoes" takes the listener to places they have never been. The song somehow effortlessly wraps up all emotions of man/woman and existence into a single, perfect whole. Only some of the greatest music ever written can s! atisfy a listener the way "Echoes" will. The song fades away and soars into the clouds the way we all wish to at the end of our lives...
