Free Music Notes for The Final Cut AlbumFree Music Review: The Final Album, worth the replacement? Hit: 4 StarsCertainly any attempt to follow up The Wall would be considered anti-climactic. Yes, the strain Waters & Gilmore had during this recording would become evident as Waters composed this angry, cynical rant and dominates the album. Yet it moves as much today as when it first came out back in 1983 when the last reminants of Pink Floyd disintergrated (Sorry, Division Bell & Lapse Of Reason don't count.). The question people will be asking is it worth forking out the extra cash to replace the old CD. That depends. Overall, I'd say yes. Not so much for the bonus track of "When The Tigers Broke Free", a nice but unecessary addition. It's for the remastering itself which gives the vocals, orchestra, and sound effects a new, brighter crispness in sound. Not a dramatic improvement per se, but it is noticable in a side by side comparrison where the original on Columbia/Sony does sound muddier. If you're the slightest bit interested, I think you'll find yourself picking this up and be quite satisfied.
