Free Music Review: Think Pink
Hit: 5 Stars

Fun, dramatic, intelligent, silly and poignant - those are just a few of the adjectives that describes Pink's fourth album, I'm Not Dead. The title was lifted from ridiculous gossip that was running around the rumor mill last year, and it's just one of fourteen tracks that is taken from the best album this newlywed has delivered since her sophomore 2001 effort, M!ssundaztood. The album kicks off with the hit single "Stupid Girls," which is a parody of the Paris-Lindsay-Jessica "dumb blonde" stereotype that engulfs the Hollywood landscape. The album, which debuted in the Top 10 in a dozen countries, also solidifies Pink's reputation as one of the most diverse and serious pop/rock/R&B recording artists of the 21st century. Every song on this album is a highlight, including the second single "Who Knew," which has yet to be released. It's a pop/rocker in the vain of Kelly Clarkson's smash "Since U Been Gone." Other outstanding cuts include the politically charged "Dear Mr. President," which is sung with the incomparable Indigo Girls. In its message, Pink and the Girls address ol' W by asking "What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away? And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay?" The song is a beautifully harmonized ballad, but never deters from the inept decisions this current administration has made. Listen to the tracks "Long Way To Happy," "U*Ur Hand," and "Nobody Knows" to find their way to radio. They have "hit singles" written all over them. If you ever had any doubts about Pink portraying legendary songstress Janis Joplin in the upcoming feature The Gospel According To Janis, they should be diminished once you hear her wail on the bluesy number "The One That Got Away." It's eerily close to Joplin's indistinguishable vocals. There's a hidden bonus song that's uncredited, but when listening to the CD, it comes on as Track #14. It's also the most personal track on the CD titled "I Have Seen The Rain," written and sung by Pink's father, James Moore, with Pink on harmonies. Mr. Moore is a veteran of Vietnam and according to Pink's commentary, "He wrote this song over 40 years ago." It's the first song she ever learned, and had the pleasure to record with her father. It's the perfect cap to an album that will make you smile, make you melancholy, make you think, but most importantly, make you fall in love with Pink (if you haven't already) and make you want to hear it over and over again, as I have done since I first put it in the player. This is one CD that'll stay in my machine, as well as in my head, for many months to come.

Free Music Review: Pink returns with an amazing cd.
Hit: 5 Stars

After the somewhat dissapointing, (but still great) cd Try This, Pink disappeard for a few years from the music scene practically without a trace. Finally news of her new cd started leaking in magazines and the net. I kept up on the news and kept track of the cd. The day it came out I went and got it.

Pink is an amazing woman who is very talented and a woman of her own. This cd is her best by far. Let me break down the track list

"Stupid Girls" 5/5-Very funny song, classic Pink. Very funny music video to go along.

"Who Knew" 5/5-Very heartbreaking about loss of a love to drugs. Very sad just like "Family Portriat" one of my favs.

"Long Way to Happy" 4/5-Very rocking song, more of her Mizundastood days. Shows she can rock like the rest.

"Nobody Knows" 3/5-Kinda mediocre although her vocals still shine. Wrote for her husband.

"Dear Mr. President" 5/5-VERY good song. About time someone asked some much needed questions to the president. Wonderful collaboration with the Indigo Girls.

"I'm Not Dead" 3/5-Another one that isn't a fav. I think it's Pink saying that she's not dead from the music scene and to be ready for her return.

"Cuz I can" 4/5-Very funny song and very Pink. Bitchy and sarcastic to a point.

"Leave me Alone (I'm Lonely)" 3/5-Another okay song about Pink just saying she wants to be left alone sometimes and not to smother her. Still independent.

"U and Ur Hand" 4/5-Another sarcastic Pink song and very bitchy, very good and funny.

"Runaway" 2/5-Probably my most unliked song, of course her vocal are top notch, but don't like the song.

"The One That Got Away" 2/5-Ok another not very liked song. Pretty good song, just dont' like the sound.

"I Got Money Know" 5/5-Good song, talking about how she pretends not to be lonely or need friends because she has money and that's all she needs. Doth I protest too much??

"Conversations with my 13 Year Old Self" 4/5-Good song, sad. I think it's what Pink would wanna say to her self if she could go back in time and see herself.

This cd is a must for true Pink fans, and even ones that want to see what she is like. It has Pink in all her glory, from slower sad songs, to fast sarcastic songs, and even rock songs. Amazing

Free Music Review: PINK HAS MANAGED TO CREATE ANOTHER MAGNIFICENT CD.....
Hit: 5 Stars

Pink always manages to create an album that stands apart from her counterparts within the deteriorating pop music seen. Within her musical niche, her sound is far much more authentic and real. Pink has definitely set herself apart from the rest. Here, she validates herself in the category of female rock star, which is much more representative to the likings of Joan Jett & Pat Benetar rather than the guilty pleasure or cheese of Britney and Hilary D. This is a great rock-n-roll album and her vocals are right on. Another plus is that none of the songs sound the same, which can be hard to come by in today's contemporary rock music. I'm still waiting to here a really good ballad from Pink, and unfortunately there are no ballads offered. She has never released a ballad and it would be a good way for her to showcase another side of her musical personality. The closest that came to it was "Catch Me While I'm Sleeping (unreleased, & should have been released)" from Try This & "Family Portrait (released)" from Mizundastood. She has such strong vocals and a true to the heart ballad would be a brilliant way for her to show her diversity and showcase her great voice. I also cannot understand why her last album "Try This" flopped in comparison to the success of her previous two. I thoroughly enjoy the album "Try This" & there are some great songs. Unfortunately, the album wasn't marketed appropriately. Anyway, as far as I'm Not.....this album is definitely worthy of awards for 2007. I also love the hidden track "I Have Seen The Rain", which is a beautiful duet with her pops & a shout out to the "pains" of war. It actually should not be a hidden track. It's a great song and is touching that she shares this song with her father. So far, I have not been disappointed with any of Pink's albums and I love all the tracks and all her cd's. I do feel that her "making fun of Jessica Simpson" stunt in her Stupid Girls video is inappropriate (I'm also a fan of Jessica); however I have the ability to set that aside. Pink is a funny chick though and certainly is not afraid to speak her mind & perhaps that's why she has become such a success. She tells it like it is & after all you have to respect her for that. This is a great CD, and I highly recommend it. Every track is good and there are no skip throughs. GO GET IT!!

Free Music Review: Overall, Very Strong Album
Hit: 5 Stars

I just bought Pink's new album, I'm Not Dead, today. and I can't stop listening to it. It's definitely one of the bet albums I've bought so far this year. Here's my review of it.

Stupid Girls: 4/5
The first single of the album, this song is soooo true, and the message Pink sends is great. I love this song and will never stop listening to it.

Who Knew: 5/5
I looove this song! Its melding of acoustic and electric guitars riffs and even some violins is so cool. The very beginning reminds me of "Since U Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson too.

Long Way To Happy: 4/5
I like this song, but it seems just a little choppy and loud. The lyrics are pretty good too with the exception of "Keep on rolling like a stone".

Nobody Knows: 2/5
Not one of my fav songs...Just a little to slow for me, I like the other slow songs better.

Dear Mr. President: 5/5
I love this song! I've always loved the Indigo Girls, and I think they and Pink compliment each other perfectly. Five out of five for awesomeness and political relevance!

I'm Not Dead: 3/5
Seems to me like this song is just kind of regular cool song. Maybe it's Pink's fault for raising the bar too high, but this song seems kinda like filler. Probably the next single though.

`Cuz I Can: 5/5
This song battles with U+Ur Hand for my favorite on the album. `Cuz I Can is the best "I'll do whatever the hell I want" song in existence.

Leave Me Alone (I'm Lonely): 5/5
Kinda in the same category as I'm Not Dead (as filler), but much better though. I can't remember what this song reminds me of.

U+Ur Hand: 5/5
My other favorite song on the album, and the best dance song in existence.

Runaway: 4/5
This is the song I was talking about when I said I preferred some of the other slow songs on the album. Very emotional.

The One That Got Away: 3/5
Not much I know to say about this song, just kinda average.

I Got Money Now: 3/5
Once again, not a whole lot I can say about this song. Reminds me of Stop Falling from Pink's first album.

Conversations With My Thirteen Year Old Self: 4/5
This song is very cool. I like her portrayal of teenage frustration.

Free Music Review: I really like the girl.........
Hit: 5 Stars

....derned if I know why. She isn't my usual style, but Style is one thing she sure has. Maybe that's what I like...she isn't afraid to be strong, and "out there". Nothing subtle about Pink. Though, when she does turn wistful, she can be haunting. She's pretty, in a rough sort of way, and she has a fantastic voice...you can understand every word; here, that will be a problem for some, as the "explicit" warning means it.

Cynical. That's the word I'm thinking. The recent "Funhouse" came out of Pink's rather public divorce...this apparently emerged from her private pain as things were going to hell...her mind was messed-up, and this album is the result. Sad for her. Happy for fans of great music.

No sex discrimination here: "Stupid Girls" sometimes are, and make really dumb choices [was Alecea looking in a mirror?]. "U + Ur Hand"...yeah, sometimes jerk guys get what they deserve. "'Cuz I Can"...an ode to self indulgence, to hell with you. "Leave Me Alone (I'm Lonely)"...conflicted self indulgence. I don't need you. Do I?? "I've Got Money Now"...purely cynical about the world. I don't need you. Really. "Conversations With My Thirteen Year Old Self"....she'd like to talk to the little girl she used to be, maybe keep her from making stupid mistakes, but she can't. Wistful, indeed.

I could have done without the liberal bilge of "Dear Mr. President"...it is the President's job to protect us from foreign enemies, not to fix everything...he's supposed to stay out of our way so we can fix it. HOWEVER, for the last [unlisted] track, I forgive her..."I Have Seen The Rain", a duet with her Dad, Jimmy, of a song written by him. Mr. Moore [the obvious source of Pink's talent] and little Alecea used to sing it at gatherings of his fellow Viet Nam Vets. Wonderful...she dedicates it to the Vets in a spoken intro. Attack the President if you wish, but honor the Vet. Right balance. Good Girl.

I really like Pink, and this record. Not for really young kids, unless you want them picking up words they'll use all-too-soon, anyway. The girl has a tough class and style that is engaging. And a great voice. As usual, fine production and art work, though there is a bikini shot in the booklet that I should have liked to see on the cover. All in all, six stars. Enjoy.
