Free Music Review: Not just another slopped together pop act!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I had only heard one song by them, but I didn't exactly listened to it so I bought this album out of sheer curiosity! And I was NOT let down!!! Well yeah their a guy vocal group, but before I o in depth I wanna say that they do play instruments and they write their own lyrics...However only one song only their debut album "The Promise" they wrote... Well they are a very good when I first heard them I knew they were a special group of guys! They have such beautiful vocals that can make any horrible song sound great!!! I didn't enjoy the first five tracks of their album to much "Written on my heart","God is in this place","The Promise","My Life",and "Soul Tatto" cause they were all a little boring, but when it got to the 6th track I really go into this album!!! I will rescue you is so beautiful I love this track!!! "When Your Spirit Get's weak" is also very beautiful it just inspires me this music makes me very happy!!! "Last Flight Out" is probrably the best track on this album and also the current single it has a said melody, the vocals and instrument arrangements are so beautiful I was totally amazed!!! "Run to you" is great ahhh Its hard to think of something different to say about each of these tracks since they're all so phenominal!!! "When I don't what to do feel like I can't make it through I run to you." "Be" oh so pretty makes me float in the airy vocals at the beginning ahhh... "Here in my heart" I could go on and on about this gem of a track its just so pretty and lovely about God and them...*sigh* "My Friend" I love songs about friends every great album should have a song about friends!!! This wonderfull Christian group of guys is sure to be around for a while at least I can *HOPE*!!! Just check these guys out they're amazing!!!Go buy "The Promise!"

Free Music Review: Plus ONE is written on my heart!
Hit: 5 Stars

I was readily waiting the debut of Christian music's boy band...then I got Plus ONE. The first time I heard "Written on my Heart'' on the radio I fell in love! Their CD seldom leaves my CD player and I listen to it ALL the time. Their faces and pics are plastered to my walls and locker. Everyone I know knows how much I loooove Plus ONE. If you like the sounds of ~NSYNC and Backstreetboys but disagree with the lyrics and lifestyles of band memebers; I promise you will love Plus ONE. My one friend, Amanda, was a dedicated Backstreet fan until I got her hooked on Plus ONE. She no longer listens to them anymore. I love them so much that in English class when we had a writing assignemnt I chose to write about Plus ONE. Here it is' Plus One has obtained a promising career in the Christian music business. There can be many possible reasons that this group has achieved such success. First, their freshman album, `'The Promise'', debuted to the public on May 23rd of this year receiving popular critical appraise, and the public welcomed it warmly as well. The five guys consisting of Nate Cole, Jeremy Mhir, Gabe Combs, Nathan Walters, and Jason Perry not only share a passion for music, but also for God. Even their name reflects their deep faith, meaning you plus God. Another reason they have been such a hit is they currently are the only Christian boy band in the industry. Next, Plus One offers a great alternative to people that want the sound of N~Sync and Back Street Boys but do not want to listen to the sometimes questionable lyrics. Finally, their songs contain R&B flavored music and upbeat dance tunes, which makes it fun to listen to. Plus One continues to score high not only on the music charts but also in their faithful listeners.' Well, I just thought that I would share that with you!! I promise that you will love this album...'that's the promise for you and I.':)

Free Music Review: "Christian" pop that won't alienate non-Christians
Hit: 5 Stars

When you see the group's five photogenic members looking out at the consumer from this CD's cover photo, you'd think that Plus One is yet another in the endless parade of pop "boy bands." But wait: this is a Christian boy band! Still, on "The Promise," overt Christian proselytizing is downplayed in favor of more universal lyrics. And happily, these guys have real talent which is matched by the CD's excellent production values.

The CD starts off strong with "Written on My Heart," an upbeat, joyful song. This song is typical of the CD as a whole; it's lyrics could have either a religious or secular meaning, depending on how the listener wants to take it. Thus devout Christian listeners can get a faith booster, while secular folks can find a wholly human element in lines like "You gave me your love / Lifted me up."

There are many other good songs on the CD. "The Promise" is tenderly performed (and contains a rare mention of Jesus). "My Life" has an edgier sound (but still reminds us not to "forget / How to stop and pray!"). "Soul Tattoo" is really fun, bouncy, and sweet (secular listeners can substitute this song's direct address "Lord" with "girl," "boy," or "babe"; Hindus can assume it means Lord Krishna). "I Will Rescue You" has a particularly strong vocal solo section, and moving lyrics. I also really liked the love songs "Last Flight Out" and "Run to You."

Overall, "The Promise" features a good mix of vocal solos and group vocals. Whether singly or together, or singing in counterpoint, these guys sound great. The lyrics do dip into a number of puppy-love cliches, but sometimes transcend the genre with memorable lines. A great disc, regardless of anyone's religious orientation.

Free Music Review: swallowtail loves it
Hit: 5 Stars

The Promise, by Plus One, is definately my favorite CD. I got introduced to the group by reading a fiction book where the main character finds the album on the internet. I decided to check them out-and I found an album that I listen to over an over again. This album is awesome, both with lyrics and musically (I love their sound!) I advise you to check it out-you'll love it too!
WRITTEN ON MY HEART makes me really thankful to God-His love is truly written on my heart. GOD IS IN THIS PLACE reminds me that I am never alone. THE PROMISE gives me hope in Jesus, while MY LIFE tells me that while it's okay to have fun, I should never forget to pray and listen to God. This song is also like an invitation to come to Him for those who haven't. SOUL TATTOO is a song of thankfullness and greatfullness to God (beware of this one-it will get stuck in your head for days!) I WILL RESCUE YOU reminds me that God will always be there for me whenever I need Him, and WHEN YOUR SPIRIT GETS TOO WEAK gives me the hope that my brothers and sisters in Christ will be there to encourage me. LAST FLIGHT OUT is a beautiful love song that makes me want to cry, while RUN TO YOU is a cool song telling me to run to God "when the world gets so cold and my heart is fifteen below." BE is like God telling me He loves me. HERE IN MY HEART is another pretty love song (stock up on the tissues with this one as well.) MY FRIEND demonstrates the preciousness and value of good friendships.
All the lyrics in this album are solid and clean, and the music is amazing! This truly was a great find!

Free Music Review: Plus One more star!
Hit: 5 Stars

When I first heard that there was going to be not one, but two Christian boy-bands (the other being True-Vibe), I have to confess that I was not crazy about the idea. My fear was that they would be a "boy band" first and a Christian group second.

Fortunately they turned out to be the reverse of my fears.

"The Promise" was one of the best albums of 2000, vaulting Plus One to the tops of not only the Christian charts, but the secular charts as well. In addition to a concert tour that was a huge hit, Plus One also popped up in a few TV shows during 2000 and 2001.

Nearly three years later, many of the songs on this album still receive a lot of radio play on both Christian and secular stations.

Although the group was put together by an outsider (i.e., someone not in the group itself) and all the songs were written by other people, the message in this album is clear: God is not just out there, but He is a big part of your life. This message is made clear by the songs "Written On My Heart," "Soul Tattoo," and "Here In My Heart."

Probably the most popular of the songs on this album, at least in the Christian circles, is "God Is In This Place," a reminder that God is here, there, and everywhere.

The group has recently dropped from five members to three members with the departure of Jeremy Mhire and Jason Perry. The remaining three have decided, at least for now, to stay a trio. We'll have to wait and see what the future holds for them. In the meantime, get acquainted with this group through this album.
