Sat down to listen to this today, although I purchased the CD some months ago. While listening and trying to decide whether or not I could subscribe to Poe's sound, my wife walks in through the door and quickly comments. "It sound kinda like Muse." There it was, on the nose inside of five seconds. Then she adds "Muse is only chasing Radiohead, and if she's chasing Muse, well, things usually go downhill." It's softly edgy, but doesn't really pack a mean punch. Great voice, and I think she could really be a figure if only pushed in the right direction. It sounds like she's swinging for the fences on this one, but failing to connect.Free Music Review: Ambitious failure.

It's clear that the artist had aspirations to make a concept album, and while the outcome would deserve the name, it is, unfortunately, not very good. There are the seeds of an excellent straight-up record here, but they get strangled by the excessive production and overuse of spoken word snippets and sound effects.
