Free Music Notes for POISON'D!Free Music Review: 100% Poison Proof Hit: 4 Stars
When I first saw the songs that were going to be included on this cd, i'll be honest i was kind of disappointed, but once i listened to them...TOTALLY DIFFERENT!!!
I really like tracks:
1) Little Willy
3) I Never Cry
4) I Need to Know
6) What I like about you
8) Just what i needed
9) Rock & Roll all night
10) Squeeze Box
11) Dont mess around w/Jim
12) Mama dont dance
13) American Band
14) Sexy Back
The thing i really love about Poison, is that they make sure everything works out...from the songs to the order they put them in....even to the point of making sure the design of the pictures are HOTT (which they are if you are wondering)!!
I was not old enough at the time when they were in their prime to follow them...but let me tell you i am really enjoying every release, every concert;just everything i can NOW!!! This is a must have Cd.
Free Music Review: Poison - 'Poison'd' (Capitol) Hit: 4 Stars
Main reason I'm giving this thirteen track, all-cover Poison CD a for-star rating, is because of their full effort they put in on making this disc. These cuts were recorded during 2006-07 with the assistance of producer Don Was. There's only one song here I don't like at all. But tunes that managed to sort of catch me off guard were Sweet's "Little Willy", Marshall Tucker Band's "Can't You See", the smoking Romantics cover - "What I Like About You" {killer harmonica - they're playing this on their current summer tour}, the Stone's stellar "Dead Flowers" and Jim Croce's "Don't Mess Around With Jim". Can you beat that? Hair metal rarely sounds this good. Definitely worth a listen.
Free Music Review: This is a great party album Hit: 4 Stars
If I had to choose a band to play at a party Poison would be one of my choices. Sure this is a covers album but it is a helluva lot of fun!! For me the cover of The Romantics "What I Like About You" is tops and Sweet's "Little Willy" is a lot of fun. "Squeeze Box" originally by The Who was a surprise choice considering the original but they have done a good job to "Poison" the song. The only let down for me is a fairly lack lustre version of KISS' "Rock n Roll All Nite" - passable but lacking a bit of energy.
Buy this, crank up the volume and cringe - Poison may lack credibility but this is a fun album.
Free Music Review: better than I expected Hit: 4 Stars
This is the first new material poison that I have actually enjoyed since native tongue, although it is not really there songs they really do put the poison stamp on them.I love there rendition of little willie ,and surprisingly they do a good cover of marshal tucker, but the best ones are what I like about you ,squeeze box and of course your mama don't dance and rock n roll all night.I do wish they would come up with some good new material of there on but this one was really a good all covers cd.They may not be writing good music anymore but this one proves they can still perform it .Rock on Poison
Free Music Review: Quite enjoyabe and way better.... Hit: 4 Stars
than expected. Being a Poison and hair metal fan had to check this one out. I was pleasantly surprised with this effort and hope it only leads to a studio album. Anyway, pretty much from beginning to end,it is filled with real good covers.Little Willy,I Never Cry,I Need To Know,Can't You see,What I Like about You and Squeeze Box are the standouts along with older covers,Your Momma Don't Dance and We're An American Band.Check it out if you like Poison and the songs they covered. They did a fine job and as I said, better than I expected. Go buy it now!!!! A solid 4.5 from me. Loved it....
