Free Music Review: They sure don't make them like Aqua Net anymore
Hit: 4 Stars

Poison was the wild card of the 80s hair metal monsters now that I look at it. They were part of a certain era of transplanted metalheads (Guns N' Roses, Motely Crue, etc.) who went to the West Coast in the hopes of making it big. And they did! Their purpose was not to send a message, but to have fun and party. And they did, these songs are just infectious. It's not about musicianship, it's not about art, it's not even about celebrity, it's about creating something that the people want. If you're really cynical, then it's about drilling something into the minds that even the dimmest, bovine brained nitwit will adapt as their anthem. Critics hated them because their songs were nothing but fluff, but they had an enormous pool of fans. And then Seattle happened that made bands like Poison look ridiculous, and they had to take a breather.

Today their catalogue and band live on as one of the most predominant 80s reviews that goes on every summer. For the last few years they've been on tour, but I doubt very much if they're doing anything new. And for some reason, no one seems to mind it much. They covered every possible song from the power ballad ("Every Rose Has It's Thorn") to the party anthem ("Unskinny Bop", "Talk Dirty To Me", etc.), to the more mature efforts ("Something to Believe In").

Not everything can be a critical success, but these songs were fun. Have a good time with them, they're a guilty pleasure every once in a while. It's like if you eat health food in front of everybody but secretly stash away snack cakes or ice cream in the freezer. Everybody does it.

Free Music Review: Not a bad Greatest Hits record...
Hit: 4 Stars

These might be Poisons greatest hits, but some of them I dont think should be on this cd. "I Want Action", "Lay Your Body Down", "Sexual Thing", and "Flesh and Blood Sacrafice" I think shouldnt be on this album. However- the other 12 tracks on this cd are awesome!! In my opinion "Nothin But A Good Time", "Ride the Wind", and "Fallen Angel" are the best songs on this cd! For the most part, its definitly worth the $$.

Free Music Review: You don't need to be a Nirvana fan in order to hate Poison
Hit: 1 Stars

This band sucks. I don't hate this generic sh*t because I'm a grunge loving Nirvana fan that hates the eighties, I hate it on it's own merits. You don't need to be a Nirvana fan in order to hate this cheesy tripe. I hate all hair metal. Wearing spandex, makeup and leather do not make you a good band. I admire bands that don't need a glitzy image in order to make it and just wear the clothes on stage that they happened to wear that day. Are their any lyrics more transparent than "every rose has it's thorn"? I think not. To all you people who long for a hair metal comeback, I say, grow up and get a life.
