Free Music Notes for Power to the PeopleFree Music Review: This Album kicks A** Hit: 5 Stars
I purchased this album not long after I saw Poison in concert this summer. I have been to few concerts in my life and Poison really impressed me. Which in turn made me decide to add another Poison album to my music collection. I love the fact they finally have C.C. doing the vocals on my personal favorite song on that album "I Hate Every Bone In Your Body But Mine". C.C. did a great job on vocals and believe me it was long over due. Now contrary to popular belief at least that's what it seems like from other reviews I have read. No one seems to like the live tracks on this album. I quote "It's too raw." To me that's exactly how live albums or tracks in this case should be. It's not real if they go and edit the tracks. It should be authentic raw guitars and vocals just as if you were at the show in person and the crowd noise should be expected because it would be near impossible to edit out the crowd noise completely . I don't know I guess maybe I appreciate the efforts of bands with live albums more than the vast majority of the population. I mean what is the sense of purchasing a live album if that really isn't what the finished product is going to be. I will agree Swallow this live does sound better but let's not knock this album down a notch just because it doesn't follow suit. Live albums are just that and that is LIVE. Sorry folks I'm just telling it like it is. Not to be rude toward the comments of other peoples opinions.
Free Music Review: Poison's Back! Hit: 5 Stars
It's finally out. I've been waiting for this album for the longest time. I got really upset earlier in the year when CC left the band again but now he's back and PTTP rulez. The first song PTTP takes on a harder edge than most of their other songs. This definately one of their best. Can't Bring Me Down and Strange are pretty much a return to their glory days in the late 80's. The Last Song is a beautifully written ballad while I Hate Every Bone In Your Body But Mine is CC's debut singing lead on a Poison song. He sounds fantastic. You should also check out CC's new band S7 cuz that album rules. The live portion of the album rox. From the opener Look What the Cat Dragged In to the closer Talk Dirty to Me. The album is pure energy. They really shine on I Want Action, Love On the Rocks, Nothin but a Good Time, Unskinny Bop, and Talk Dirty to Me. There is an evident bond between band members on this album. Rikki's drum solo is amazing as well. He has to be one of the most underrated drummers of all time. The whole album rules and I can't wait for the PTTP tour which I already have tickets for. It's gonna rule like this album does definately pick it up you won't be dissappointed.
Free Music Review: awesome 5 newbies, and the live stuff is ROCK N ROLL! Hit: 5 Stars
Poison rules. They never seem to stop amazing me. This album is a tribute to the fans. Rikki Rockett says that the live portion was put out for those who didn't get to see the reunion tour and that the new tracks are for those who want new stuff. They didn't dissapoint on this one. Power to the people is a heavy track much like that of "The Scream" from Native Tounge, and "Sexual Thing" from Crack a Smile. "Bring Me Down" is much like that of "Let it Play" from Flesh and Blood" , "The Last Song" isn't the strongest ballad the band has ever done, but is a great song. "Strange" sounds like something that could have come from the "Native Tounge" sessions, or from Bret's solo sessions, but nonetheless is a great song. Lastly C.C.'s little ditty is a catchy pop number that is typical rock n roll from one of the best pop guitar players that ever lived. The live stuff isn't polished up in the studio like that of Swallow This Live, but that is what makes it so special. It is raw, rude, and aggressive. Just like Rock n' roll should be. Great album. Pick it up!
Free Music Review: POISON IS BACK BIGGER AND BETTER THAN EVER! Hit: 5 Stars
For a diehard Poison fan, the concert tracks are basically the same as Swallow This LIVE, with some exceptions. C.C Deville returns as the prodigal son. He sounds like he hasn't missed a beat. I noticed that there was no mention of the Native Tounge tracks that Blues and Richie helped to make. The new tracks in the studio show that this group still has what it takes to make good music. C.C. brings his lead vocal talent from The Stepmothers, for "I hate every bone..." I liked the track. "The Last Song" brings the power ballad back for this group. A few of the tracks hint at the criticism the band had in is earlier years and how they delt with that. Music from Poison has always bucked the system. This album is no different. GO SEE THE 2000 TOUR WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR AREA, YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED
Free Music Review: Poison - The greatest rock band of all time. Hit: 5 Stars
Power to the People, the title track is with out a doubt one of the best rock songs you will ever hear. It is full of power and energy. This album covers the rock relm from hard and heavy Power to the People to the slow ballad "The Last Song". The Last Song is about bass player Bobby Dall's break up with his long time wife. It's a great song and touches the heart. Brett Michaels vocals are simply astonishing. CC Deville sings lead vocal on "I hate every bone in your body". He does a great job and broadens the scope of Poison's musical realm. "Can't Bring Me Down" is equally as great. It's a postive song with an upbeat party sound. Listen to this CD and forget about life's problems. Good Listening!! Everyone I know who has bought this CD has said that it is the best CD of 2000.
