Free Music Review: An early gem

Back then when Porcupine Tree was just a pseudonym for a one-man act, Steven Wilson composed (with a little help from friends Colin Edwin and Richard Barbieri who would later be part of the band) and put out a record consisting of (almost) 10 brilliant psychedelic tracks. Since it was a one-man act, the drumming was programmed for one thing.
Come 2005, Wilson partially re-recorded, fully remixed and remastered the album with Gavin Harrison's drumming replacing the electronic drumming, added a CD-2 which is "Staircase Infinities", a remastered version of the EP of rare psychedelic tracks from the same era and put out a Double-disk "Up the Downstair" a now complete and accomplished 2-CD set which could easily qualify to be one of Porcupine Tree's greatest albums!
Check out the masterful compositions on the album as a whole and be prepared to be mesmerized by Wilson's early musical genius. In the era of "The Incident" I don't think there is any going back to this style now, but if Wilson ever attempts anything like this again, I would certainly welcome it with open arms!
