Free Music Review: Porno For Pyros - 'Good God's Urge' (Warner Brothers)
Hit: 4 Stars

This is the band's second and final release and it's a bid more mellower than their self-titled debut. But,rest assure it's still pretty cool sounding.I'll say this much, that I can truly understand as to why Jane's Addiction disbanded when they did.Porno For Pyros is DEFINITELY a step forward for vocalist Perry Farrell and drummer Stephen Perkins. The best two tracks here are "Tahitian Moon" and "Thick Of It All".A couple of others that sort of grabbed my attention are "Dogs Rule The Night","Freeway" and "Ball Eyes".Just an all around good stylish alternative rock CD.

Free Music Review: Flawed, disorganized, intoxicating and utterly beautiful
Hit: 4 Stars

For the attentive listener Good God's Urge is as intoxicating as a fine wine on a hot summer's night. Confusing layers in the mixing, however, along with Farrell's distorted voice and cryptic lyrics will not please mainstream listeners. Furthermore the band's faux-hippie ideals seem dated and frankly lame, but Farrell's earnestness and fantastic delivery brings listeners to see the world through his hungry eyes . . . and it is indeed a very beautful, magical world.

Free Music Review: Pretty good, not as consistent as their first album
Hit: 4 Stars

I liked this album but not as much as the first PFP or Ritual de... There are some really good songs on this album, among Perry's best. The other songs are ok, but they took a while to sink in.

Free Music Review: Great
Hit: 4 Stars

Very good album, all songs are very relaxing and catchy.
My favorites are Good God's urge (amazing bass line)and Kimberly Austin.

Free Music Review: Sways ok
Hit: 3 Stars

Enjoyable enough slice of mid 90's alterna-pop from the ex-Janes frontman is a marked turn from a louder, more aggressive debut, with some of the instrumentation benefiting from a more spiritual-centric approach, but ultimately most songs are only fulfilling in that half-satisfying way. Perhaps it is Farrell's last relevant release.
