It's not nearly long enough!! I've never bought a soundtrack in my life, but I know it's only the bits that are actually in the movie. I truly wish that these pieces had been embellished or that more were included, in the movie or not. It's brilliant and makes me happy.
So that makes it all shiny and good and that's my opinion.
And to the rather crabby Amazon reviewer? Yes, I like George Winston, too. Hah!! :)

I have read the Austen classic many times over and the soundtrack which goes along with the magnificent film version is wonderful. The music captures the feelings of the film perfectly. When I listen to the cd in my car, I can tell what part of the film it went in, because it reminded me of the scene it was in. I love the original novel by Jane Austen with the same title. The screenplay is an abridged version that focused more on drama and cinematography rather than keeping true to Austen's prose. With this in mind, I still thoroughly enjoyed the movie. The acting was superb and characters were well chosen. The music alone is so fantastic, so full of emotions and completely lyric free. The different melodies and movements speak their own language as well as bring forth a whole range of different emotions. You can't help but picture beautiful landscape while listening to the soundtrack. I love Jane Austen and this portrayal is packed with beautiful scenery and people, but after listening to the soundtrack I realized that's what I loved so much about the movie. Unlike so many soundtracks out there, this work really stands alone, taking on a life beyond the movie. I've bought it as a gift for anyone who loves beautiful music and I rate it as my favorite album of the year!
