My goodness...the music is stunning! Anyway I love the movie and it's music. So I bought this CD and great results have come out of it!! The CD and case was in perfect condition. All of the tracks are wonderful. There is something that makes the music so unique. If any of you out there are looking for some darn good music with orchestra and what not GET THIS CD!! You will not regret it! And job-well-done to the superb pianist who did all the piano playing in the I'm so excited about Music Review: Evocative musicHit: 5 Stars Pride & Prejudice
This music was beautiful and extremely evocative of the locations and ocasions occurring in the film. It has been composed to transport the listener to another time and place in the same way as Michael Nyman transported us in 'The Piano'. One questions the choice in the order of the music as presented in the CD not matching the order of the story line, however when listening, this dosen't matter at all.

I was completely captivated with this soundtrack. The piano music was superb and dance numbers utterly delightful. Each time I listen and close my eyes I feel completely transported. With all due respect to the editorial review...I must ardently disagree with the description "monochromatic beige." It might seem that way if your sensibilities tend toward the overstimulation of the senses but there is such beauty found in the simplest melodies ("Dawn") and soaring polyphonies. This set of pieces from the movie is a delight. Dario Marianelli writes in a style that suites the period well. There is a bit of real Purcell, and some music that pays tribute to other composers including Phillip Glass. The pieces are not hard to play, if you can play Sarabande by Handel you can play these. There is a 2 against 3 theme that reoccurs through the group which may cause you to slow down and count it carefully. I have always struggled to find music that I can listen to when I read. This cd is perfect to read to. The music you hear in the trailers is not on this cd. Make sure you pick up a copy of the soundtrack, "Love Actually" to obtain "PM's Love Theme" and then grab Howie Day's cd with "Collide". Music from "Sense & Sensibility" is also in the trailers (A Particular Sum & Willoughby). Also, Franz Schubert's piece "German Dance No. 1 in C major" (Barry Lyndon soundtrack) can be found in the trailers.
