Free Music Review: Phenomenal Musicianship..Simply The Best
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is without a dobut one of the single most imaginative, innovative, and genius recordings ever released by a singular musician. I have a large collection of CD's ranging from Stevie Wonder's "Songs in the Key of Life" and "Innervisions"..to the Beatles "Sgt. Pepper" and This album outshines them all. Every song on the CD is exquisite. Prince played all instruments, produced, arranged and wrote the majority of the songs here. My favorites are "If I was your girlfriend", "Sign O the Times", "Strange Relationship", "Adore", "I could never take the place of your man", "The Cross", "Housequake", "The Ballad of Dorothy parker", and U got the look....Ok..I like all of them...If u want a complete album by a musical genius purchase this and u will not be dissapointed....I have all of his albums and this one is the best, although all of them are excellent....I highly recommend "Parade", "Lovesexy", "Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic", "1999", "The Gold Experience", and "Dirty Mind".

okay, so we all know tat prince is a master of overindulgence...but on his album he reined in all his pretention and excess and came close to creating the best album ever made by ANYONE...it's hard to imagine anyone making a double album with no filler, but that's exactly what prince did. this album showcases prince at his eclectic best, including the stark, disturbing title track, the very strange "if i was your girlfriend", the heartfelt "forever in my life" (the song jfk jr and carolyn danced to at their wedding, folks...), and two of the best slow jams in history: "slow love" and especially "adore" are guaranteed to make you wanna hit the sheets (and im not talkin' about sleepin'), and thats just the tip of the iceberg. this lp also contains "i could never take the place of your man" (probably his greatest narrative), "the ballad of dorothy parker" (a close second), and "housequake", which is a dance classic. still worth the relatively expensive pricetag, and the best album from the greatest singer/songwriter.musician of the past 20 years

Free Music Review: TRULY A SIGN FOR THE FUTURE
Hit: 5 Stars

This album can only be appreciated in the manner that it was created, sheer genius. It is a mark of a man who has successfully assimilated a vast array of musical history, painted it with the lyrics of a postmodern age and packaged it as a most fantastic form of entertainment. With this album Prince truly marked himself as the voice of a worldwide generation, and signalled the way to go. The songs still sound fresh, show diversity, complexity, yet also remain simple. As with his previous releases he is able to proffer production values that satisfy, but never over indulge. The songs are effectively what the listener makes them. With the sparse and basic sound of 'forever in my life', Prince is able to demonstrate that the true quality of music is to inspire, as the listener is ultimately responsible for what they here or what they do not. As an excercise in pure music production, Sign o' the Times is an exemplorary in revealing how the music you hear is not based on the sounds from the tape, but the sounds that it doesn't provide; namely the sounds you create and imagine through the listening process.

Free Music Review: everybody shut up, listen 2 the band!
Hit: 5 Stars

In my opinion one of the 3 best albums ever next 2 'thriller' and 'the doors' debut album. Combining soulful rock & roll with sweet pop & the best r&b in ages this album is prince's crowning achievement. The title track is raw & cold, very different from the rest of the album. It gives a clear insight in some of P's political opinions. 'Play in the sunshine' is a cool summer-jazz that melts down to a jammin part that takes over your body. 'Housequake' probably the funkiest song ever written needs no further praising. Other highlights are 'hot thing' (now that's r&b), Starfish & coffee (damn poetry thet song), 'you got the look' is a playful rock-love song that remains a landmark in music to this day. 'ICNTTPOYM' recaptures 'play in the sunshine' but is lyrically one of the most in-depth song on the album. Buy this album cause if you never heard it you missed out on some of the greatest music ever. There are no words to describe this art, so i'm gonna shut up and listen to the band!

Free Music Review: No one touches this-Not the Beatles, Not M Jackson, No One
Hit: 5 Stars

Following the sheer exhilaration and inventiveness of the Parade album in 1986, Prince surpassed himself and everyone else who had recorded a long player.

Certainly the best album of the 80's, the only thing I have ever heard that compares is Marvin Gaye's What's Goin on.

I haven't hear every single album by every single artist or group but none of the so called great albums or great groups have ever produced anything as good as this.

It's probably a more diverse record than anyone, including Prince in later years with his 3, 4 and 5 CD sets, has ever released.

With each new style Prince demonstrates he is the song writer of his generation, as he masters it and often takes it into a new dimension.

Oh yes and the concert also happened to be the best show on Earth!

Circ. 1986 -1987 in terms of music and performance, Prince was GOD - it's just a shame he's done his best ever since to ruin such a reputation.

I just hope that as he keeps saying he is a happier person.
